grass poop

in my backyard we have a pile where we put the grass clippings from when we mow the lawn. on the very bottom, which is grass that has been sitting there for a couple years, there is a kind of sludge from where the grass(and other shit like vegetables, corn, and all kinds of biodegradable shit) has been rotting for a couple years. does anyone know if this would be good mushroom food? it stinks like shit, so i figured it might be good for growing. anybody know?

It would be a good casing. I would give it a try. Make sure you pasterize the sludge of course.
