I think that figure is a yearly percentage. Meaning that if a couple has unprotected sex all year (and they use the pull-out method) 27% of the couples will have conceived.

That's still kind of scary though. I just need to get a vasectomy.

what does "all year" mean though? most couples dont have sex a couple times a day, not throughout the entire year anyway... more like a couple times a week at best.

the shot wouldn't work for her since it suppresses the period for 3 months... and for god's sake people stay away from the implant!!! i have heard (first hand) of 3 girls getting pregnant with the implant... worst thing is the implant also suppresses the period or makes it really irregular... so a couple of them didn't find out until a few months into the pregnancy...

There are supposedly a lot of side-effects from tube-tying. Vasectomies are much less side-effect prone I guess.

Yes, Tubal Ligation can result in early menopause, and is irreversible. Vasectomies have a good reversal rate, and are performed on an out-patient basis, whereas Tubal Ligations require general anesthesia (a large risk in an of itself) and involve major surgery, which adds the risk of infection & extended recovery time.
