Birth Control
    #3551979 - 12/28/04 11:17 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

well i recently had a little scare. My GF was 2 weeks late and we were about to get a preg. test but she started ragging so its all good now. Now she wants to go on birth control. What do you guys know about health risks and things like that concerning BC. She wants to get on the shot and i dont know much about that at all. She quit smoking (cigs) a couple weeks ago cause they say your not supposed to smoke on it.

anyone got any helpful links. Also how much is this shit gonna cost?

if i were here i'd consult her GP in regards to what sort of birthcontrol to go on. i've heard nothing but horror stories about the implant and shot, if your gf reacts badly to the shot then those symptoms will be with her for a while....

think about the pill first...

i dont think she was planning on going on the shot forever. prolly jsut a year or so. I dont think your supposed to take it for much longer than that. The only thing about the shot that scares me is it could cause depression esp in people that have a history of severe depression. My GF is ok now but she does get depressed sometimes and in the past has falled in pretty deep....because of an abusive mom and many other things i wont get into right now.

One of my x's had that done, the little birth control capsule in her arm. It worked ok, no side effects and pretty convenient.

I think they can always take it out if there's negative side effects.

In my experience the pill works geat, as long as the girl remembers to take it.  You have to get on her ass about it...check her little pill pouch everyday to see if she remembered.

As long as she takes it routinely, you can enjoy worry free unprotected sex.

i had an ex that got the shot and she had a history of some depression much like your girl it sounds (more circumstancial than a disorder). she didn't have problems with it too much, one time she passed out when the shot was administered but it was done by her mom and not a nurse or anything. no crazy mood swings or anything. that was a once a month shot and it was effective. also had an ex on the patch and that really seems the best if they don't mind wearing that thing all the time. pills work too but you have to remember to take them and also i had a scare involving pills before when the girl didn't take the green placebo pills and one month started the active pills during the inactive time so she didn't get her period, that was a stressful time.
