Your Birth: An Accident?
    #4747357 - 10/03/05 12:47 AM (11 years, 2 months ago)

What percentage of births do you think are accidents and what percentage do you think were planned? I guess that's kinda hard to tell. I was talking to my mom the other week and I was like "I bet we weren't even planned pregnancies" and she was like "Catholics don't believe in that!", which makes me think I was not planned. Did they even have condoms back in the mid 70s? Anyways, it seems like it would be a better place if people started planning their pregnancies.......

I dunno about percentages..

but I was definitely a "surprise." :smirk:

I don't know if I was planned or not, but I'm the second born. So they should have known better the second time around. But I don't know at all, I could be very much an accident.

i was, in my mother's own words, the result of a bottle of red wine and a broken condom.

 they had planned to have only one kid, but accepted me anyhow!

My parents used a combination of at least 2 contraceptives each time they bumped uglies. They ended up with 6 kids each two years apart!

To answer the original question of the thread (what percentage of North American births are planned), I do believe that it is at about 50%. I saw that in a newspaper or magazine.

That's so weird. Two forms of contraception and they still kept procreating? Stories like this scare the hell out of me. I can't wait until they come out with the "male pill". Pfft...although given my sex life as of late I won't need it.

My birth was quite intentional. My parents got married in their 30's, so had to get to work quick on having children, lest they miss the opportunity.

I don't like hearing this. I always try to come outside, which decreases the odds a little....

I don't think I was planned.

I was also born dead, with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck, and had to be resuscitated. I think if there is a god up there...someone wanted me here :smirk:
