Would you be interested in buying a copy of the entire Shroomery?

The ultimate Shroomery merchandise, a copy of the entire site at a given point in time.

This could take many forms.

It could be a stack of DVD's or it could be a hard drive with the entire site on it which you can plug into your computer. Perhaps there could be an URL where you can download a copy at the cost of bandwidth + a sum donated to the Shroomery.

I'm not offering anything here, only the admins can as it's their site.
But if they did, would you be interested?

There are quite a few challenges with this idea. First we'd need to get >30GB of data off the servers (not as big a problem once they're out by Link). We'd need to either process the data into a static copy of the site (which wouldn't offer the customization options people are used to) or include an installer to set up a local LAMP server. The mirror would quickly get stale so we'd need to figure out a way to automate the whole process. And the only practical way to distribute the end result would be on a USB hard drive, plus the amount of work involved would make the price well over a hundred dollars, at least to start. Given the difficulty we have selling $5 supporter accounts, I'm just not sure we could recoup the costs.

One thing I want to point out though is everyone already has a license to host a mirror of the Shroomery, static or dynamic, or incorporate it into your own site. All our content is available under the Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial Share Alike license so as long as you give us credit, don't profit from our work, and share any changes you make, you can do whatever you want. A motivated individual could use a program like HTTrack to copy parts of the site for their own use or as a public mirror, just please use reasonable settings so as not to rape our bandwidth or get stuck in an infinite loop.

P.S. The 'estimated value' from DNScoop is just for the domain name, not the site itself.
