If the growth seems to be lighter and fluffier than the other mycelium and not really attached to any "thick" mycelium then chances are it is the dreaded cobweb mold. Ryche Hawk has discovered a great tek for dealing with cobweb mold. I'm not sure of the exact url but you can find it somewhere through his webpage www.thehawkseye.com . Good luck with this! in the original pf tek it says it's not uncommon to see whispy mycelium in the upper verm layer. i noticed a bit of this in my jars. my guess is that's what you're seeing here. just scrape the verm layer away and you'll prolly be fine, whatever it was. no sense in throwing it away.
