Preventing the viel from breaking?

Could you possibly prevent the viel from breaking by tapping or tacking it off. what would happen to the potency if it grew larger but the veil didnt tear? will it be an insignificant gain

The veil opening is just a sign that the mushroom has matured, finished it's growing cycle and beggining to produce spores. Taping the cap up won't stop that.

It's like what the Chinese used to do. They taped up women's feet when they were young to keep their feet small (they found it sexy) but that didn't stop the girl maturing and becoming a woman.
