Morels and hickory nuts

I was hunting morels the other day. I found a pretty large one, short and fat about as round as a soda can. I dug around the leaf litter and all around it was white mycelium, for about 4 inches radius from the stem. I found lots of fully colonized hickory nut shells. I dug the mushroom up to figure out what is is fruiting from. About a quarter to a half inch under the soil the base of the stem was attached directly to a part of a hickory nut shell. I mined the mycelium to be buried in my outdoor bed I have at home.

I thought someone here might find that intriguing. It could of all just been coincidence though.

Try to go back and dig a bit deeper to find the sclerotia it fruited from. Morels fruit from the sclerotia rather than the network of mycelium.

Ok. I read in ggmm that the sclerotia of morels dissapear long before the fruits grow, is that true?

What would I do with the sclerotia besides plant it in my bed?
