My idea for a new forum.

How about a new forum dedicated to "Home brewers"!

People who like to brew their own beer at home could share ideas and cost-saving measures. Maybe even trade ingredients and such.

What do you guys think?

beer and mead? lol sounds great to me why shouldnt we have a forum, enthogens do.
since ive changed my title, i have got a lot of pm's from brewers, and meadmasters. there are a surprising amount here. are you planning on taking up the art box?

I've been very close to diving in head first but I was always afraid of going down the path of a newbie and getting ripped off.

A forum like this would give the chance for the more experienced brewers to point the newbs in the right direction.

If I could make my own quality brews at about or less than retail then yes I definitely would take up the art. Me likes me beer!

thats a good thing about todays brewing, there is kits and/or supplies for any skill level. myself, im a traditionalist, i try to use the least amount of any chemicals i can get by with. my mead is so close to what the vikings actually drank, its a shame not to drink it out of a horn!
when your ready to start brewing, pm me, my supplier has kits, way cheaper than the big namecompanies. and its quality... glass carboys, etc etc etc. i seen so many cheaply two plastic bucket kits, that go for a lot more than his.

Hey Chrome no bullshit aside... I m into the beer brewing thing. It's always a hobby I ve had in the back of my mind. Any info would be helpful. I do however make some great wine and my family has for generations. I d be glad to give you any advice I can on wine and you can help me with beer... I know we have a brewers shop close to my home but I d be alot like you in the fact I d want to make the real thing and not just some kit of Bud Lite lol

see thor we need the forum, lol.... i am just starting to think of doing beer. im a mead man lol..........we got wine makers, beer brewers, and mead masters here. i have got pm's from other at least 5 beer brewers, and one guy who is into making mead too. there is probably a lot more we dont know about, and many who would try, given the exposer to the art.

There are several great sites about beer.

IMO brewing beer is too off topic for a Mushroom site.

A beer forum would not only be great, but it may bring in other brewers, and help them to become more intrsested in Mushrooms. Spread the spores, brew the Beer

I don?t know if you ever experienced a mayor yeast infection in your agar setup.... I did.

On the other side, as you said, bringing people from the brewing track to mushroom cultivatin sounds intriguing.

lol have you been to the other drug forum? i can garuntee that more shroomies drink beer than cat piss! ya got entheogen garden, which has everything from poppies to salvia. i mean, what makes my drug of choice ( alcohol ) , less deserving than all of the rest of the drugs this place allows? .....maybe if i brew my mead cut with cat piss and nutmeg it would be ok?????

Hell Yeah! I'm with you guys. I've been brewing for years. And for those that think it's not related, it's VERY related. Yeast/spore production are similar, anyone that can grow a batch of mushies could turn out some great beer cuz you don't have to be nearly as particular. I mean you have to be sanitary but you don't have to worry about humidity, motly just temperature and sanitation.

And a 'Yeast exchange' would be awesome. We could even trade beers without fearing going to jail. The biggest paranoia would be bottles breaking during shipping.

yeah, we could trade surplus supplies, exchange recipes, and shipping isnt that hard to do, i just sent a member here a bottle of my latest mead, wanted his opinion on it before i enter it next year, it arrived perfectly safe

yeah, and with a lil knowledg of the process, they would see it is very similar.. lol more related than reading hitchhikers guide to the galaxy on the book forum lol.
