There, you could start a thread just on one movie, cd, or book. This can be done in OTD, but it would be cool to have them all together. Any time you see a movie, you could post the title and what you thought of it. Book discussions could happen. Music reviews. ------------------ What does it all mean?

I was initially reluctant to support this idea because I've never been in favor of having a forum to review culture. Plus, I was concerned it would drown out the actual computer stuff. Well, the whopping 5 active threads makes me reconsider....One thing, though: don't include pics - that'll open the floodgates to porn posting.....so imagine my toothbrush thread in this forum. Bad idea. Keep pics to off topic. Another idea.....I have a concern about the continued fragmenting of Off Topic. For two reasons: 1) this is the Shroomery, after all, so there shouldn't be an assload of non-shroom related forums. Assload, of course, is up to each individual to define. 2) Off Topic actually does serve a role, that of the community type atmosphere.....and the more interesting things that are divided away from it, the more it lives up to its stereotype of just useless blather and spam. I guess we just need to think about whether we should divide culture/media reviews and discussions away from off topic. This could include movies, music, books, etc. Although where do you draw the line? Would something like the Napster conversation be a part of this forum, or still off topic? And should we be strict in 'enforcing' that? As in, having an active Off Topic moderator who moved music and other stuff to this forum? Just some thoughts to chew on... ------------------ Listen to Captain Jack http://www.captainjackmusic.com/ http://www.mp3.com/captainjack99/

I don't know Captain. You bring up some good points. I think that if the topics are posted in Off-Topic they should stay there. What I envision the Media forum to be is a place where if you are thinking of going to see a movie, you could run a search and find out what other Shroomerites have thought of the movie. Another idea that this brings up is that of a "Shroomery Book Club." People who have read the same book could discuss different aspects of it. OTD is just too big for these things to occur. However, if someone is interested in getting a large amount of responses right away and then having their thread disappear into the millions of threads that exist in OTD, that should be their right. ------------------ What does it all mean?

I don't think that it should be enforced too strictly, cause I bet a lot of people including myself do a long search through OTD before going to any other forums.

I say screw comp. and tech. and just combine it with off topic discussion. OTD encompasses everything that is not included in the other forums and if there are only 5 threads in the tech forum, it should be absorbed by OTD

Why is everybody so afraid of new forums? If the Media Room doesn't get any attention, it can be done away with. Give it two weeks and see what happens. I don't think it would destroy this place.------------------ What does it all mean?

well yes i still feel there's something to gain and nothing to lose with thisat the moment Off Topic is so busy it doesn't load even 3 days of posts per page it could benefit from some posts being channeled to another forum instead a lot of quality posts about books, music, art etc. dissappear easily off the list but by its nature this stuff seems to me on average worth at least a look Media Room! as far as porn goes i would suggest links labeled as "porn" should be permitted if not actual uploads how about a 1 month trial?
