Hpoo by the truck load

I have convinced the Mrs. to let me get a truck load of hpoo if i use some for the garden, fine with me :grin:

Now when i usually pick hpoo i go for nuggets, with this it seems like a hit or miss..... Now i plan to pick out as many nuggets as I can but with the non-nugget hpoo from a cultivation stand point would it be wise to still use?

My plan is to get a tarp and break up the nuggets then let dry as well as the already loose hpoo. Once dry  break down by hand then store in a tote till use later....

Any small scale suggestions feel free to suggest. Truck load is only setting me back $25 (including delivery) :smile:

that is what I do.

usually in the warmer months of the year.

then store some in large garbage cans for the winter months.

If you are going to have the hpoo sitting for a while, don't forget to mix up the pile every 4 day's or so to get some good composting action going on :laugh:




PS, Roadkill, you were right about getting that website up within two weeks. :crazy:

A shallow h/poo pile, once dry.
Doesn't compost.
It has to be about 2.5 + ft deep & moist.

I assumed he would be putting the fresh batch in a pile to try out, so I figured I would suggest composting it instead of just drying it out.  That's all :laugh:

Also how do you recommend I store the poo after it has been dried and screened?

Last question, what is a decent size truck load LB wise? For lets say 200 lbs dry?

it's a chipper/shredder, made for small limbs and yard waste

in a shed or barn would be ideal

depends on the truck and the storage space, one ton of manure doesnt take up much space where as 18 cubic yards will

I was looking for more of what to keep it in rather where to keep it.

A ton seems like a little excessive, but that be aprox 200 LBS dry right? If that's the case that is about what i am looking for :wink:

I had a pick up truck full given to me. I had to move it. The horse's are starting to make another load as we type.(hehe)Some of this went into my garden the rest to be used later.
