h poo is grass and oats. its bairly digested since horses only have one stomach. unlike cows who have 4. hence why hpoo is better then cow poo. mushroom compost is FROM mushrooms. not for them. its the stuff tehy grow button mushrooms on and other guys. it doesn't have the nutes you want at this stage since they have already been used.
thing of that compost as starting on your 3rd flush ahaha.
aged horse poo doesn't smell like horse it smells like earth. volume well hel lthat would depend. since its a SIZE measurement.
DON'T use mushrooms compost DO use horse poo

Mushroom compost is specially mixed to meet the nutritional needs of mushrooms. Also the fact that it has been composting means it has been subjected to conditions that promote the growth of microorganisms beneficial to mushrooms.
Aged horse poo is widely available, works great and usually free or very cheap.
Mushroom compost will be more expensive because of the labor involved.

Spent mushroom substrate is sold as compost called Mushroom compost, or sometimes mushroom soil. This isn't for growing mushrooms on. It's compost FROM spent mycelium.
Composted horse manure and straw is also sold as Mushroom compost this IS for growing mushrooms. This is compost FOR mushrooms.
See this link for a DIY guide http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5341136#Post5341136
oh and High mountain compost is designed for growing mushrooms on.

thank you musher420, i understand the differance between spent compost and compost for growing, i guess i am just looking for an opinon as to which is better substrate hpoo or mushroom growing compost, as i do not have the space to make my own compost (living in the city and all). also i have been told odor is not a big issue with hpoo, but is it an issue for compost or is it all about the same?

I get my horse manure for free. That's why it's all I use. I have no experiance with custom made mushroom compost. Sorry I can't help you there. I'm looking forward to trying out Agar's myco-nitro tho.
But I will say just strait aged horse manure has always performed awesome for me. Expecially if you can find it covered in white fungus known as firefang.
