ok so im VERY worried here. I don't know if this is contam or if this is sclerotia forming.

they started out milky white, and the edges are turning brown, they feel like a little bump when you touch them somewhat hard.










In the above picture the myco turned black in spots very quickly after colinizing and i thought this was going to be sclerotia but it doesn't seem to be doing anything now...what is it?

That looks very wet. Looks a lot like what I would expect of a bacterial contamination. You might want to have someone redirect this thread to the contamination forum, or start a thread there.

That looks like bacteria to me also.

Morchella sclerotia in my limited experiences starts out almost neon yellow at first and then starts to darken, turning brown as it grows.

Morel mycelium can look pretty nasty. I don't see any obvious contaminants there. I just got an absessed tooth extracted, so feel wimpy today. If I get up and around and the demorol and alcohol wear off, I'll try to get a picture of a few of my morel jars. They look a lot like that. If it's got bacteria, you should be able to smell it through the filter patch.

I missed you mentioning the suspect areas were hard. That may be indeed sclerotia then. I'd say that it is and it's a lot of it. I've never seen it get that large though.

How long has that bag been going?

they been kickin it since 1/15/07

they parts that are hard are the milky white spots that are now more brownish....at the bottom the milky white area is still soft

I got a few jars to colonize once and it looked similar. Morel myc is pretty funky.
