ok its just i had my eye on a peace and i was wondering if its what i needed.
would this be basically what i need to hold the plant and the nutrients?

i have the first one and it works very well
it was the first one i have ever had and was a good starting point to hydroponics, it holds your water/nutrients and i recomend putting it on a timer and to get a ph tester and a ec/ppm meter

it is cheep and works well
you dont want to buy 400$$ system then figure out that you are not in to hydroponics

i have a few salvia plants in mine now.

Look at that crap air pump it comes with tisk tisk.

Build your own for the same price but way way nicer.

the air pump that came with mine was a very good air pump and does its job well. it has been doing its job for years and years.
you dont need a super pump when all you need it to get the job done.

i got mine right through hydrofarm

on the other hand all i do is build my own now with bucket lid net pots for drip and plastic trays for ebb + flow and plastic gutter for aeroponics but i recomend you buy that system for a starting point...

i agree. there is no better way about learning hydroponic than building your own system.

all and all the package deal is deceiving says all you need, but the most important part of hydro is left out (ph & tds metering)

imho i would but a decent dual meter for tds/ec/ph then reaserch deep water culture and emulate in a home depot'ish' environment (could be done really cheaply and easily)

there are many resources on the net that give hydro questions a proper reception.

well this would be my first time even useing one. once i can see how the one i buy is build i am sure i can make my own. just like i started building bongs after i understood the mechanics.
