San Pedro Cloning
    #6600287 -

I was wondering if young cacti, around 2 years old, and 8 inches tall, can be cloned.

The only problem with them is they are very slim, only about an inch at their max. I grew em for too long under too little light. I'm just afraid they're not going to be able to root out once i cut em, because of their age.

I would just replant them half way up like i do with some other plants, but I'm afraid it'd be too much of a shock for them.

i did that with one i had, 4 pups came off,

so i cut them off and rooted them, by the time they rooted, the original stock put off 4 more.

it wasnt the primary object of either pic, but its in both of them clearly

mitch was yours from seed or a clone? seeded plants can but in my experience they dont have enough energy. maybe mine were subpar. im still not that great with seedlings.

yea i have had cacti that were just 1/2 inch or so that i threw on the ground out side root and grow a small very funny cactus came out of it.

a cactus tip that is almost any size will root. i toped one of my pedros to graft a peyote on top and it was only 3/4 of an inch and it also rooted just fine.
