I hope no one is expecting 8cm the first year. That would be near record growth from what I've seen. I do start seedlings all the time. The years will pass anyway and it's not much work taking care of them. You can always take a seedling and graft it for faster growth.

24 hours/day Una, thats radical!
how long can one keep them in this way?
doesn't it messes up cactus sweating?
can one give them foliar/root nutrients at the same time (lights on)?

Well, I don't think I'll be ordering the seeds anymore. While reading DH's cacti thread I came across the site http://www.plant-planet.net/ which sells rooted San Pedro and so I'll probably just order off of that site. Thanks for your help.
