i think its all a matter of proving your point period.

I mean a person that wants to pass on the knowledge of their beliefs to maybe influence someone in what you consider a possitive would not go about it in the manner you are doing.

Interesting fact about Hubbard: He was a member of Ordo Templi Orientis, a mystical order founded by Aleister Crowley. He later took some of the teachings of the order, gave them his own sci-fi spin, and got rich selling them to the masses. Of course, according to him, he only joined the order as a covert operation to spy on them and help bring them down.

There's also a story that Hubbard and fellow science fiction writer Robert Heinlein had a running bet of who could start a more successful religion. Obviously Hubbard won that bet(if in fact, it happened as described), though the Church of All Worlds, based on Heinlein's book "Stranger in a Strange Land," still has many members.
