hey everyone alohas..... i have a coir casing done in a pyrex container thats sitting at 81-85 degrees F. in the dark. the casing was done on tuesday and now its sunday. my casing is made of 3/4" of moist verm on the bottom, then 3 crumbled pesa cakes ontop of that. to finish off the casing is a 1/4" top layer of coco coir, covered with saran wrap. the mycelium has been poking through in splotches, throughout the week maybe about 40%. as i saw the spots of mycelium poking through, i patched the spots up with fresh coco coir. my questions are: ** how long do i let the casing sit until i can put it in the grow chamber? (the tek says 3 to 7 days) ** when do i induce pinning? how? oh yeah my grow chamber is an 18 gal rubbermaid with perlite for humidification, and a fish tank bubbler for air exchange. the grow chamber is sitting at room temp around 81-85 degrees F. thanks to everybody here at the shroomery you guys rock . peace, love , and ganjah......

Youre not supposed to let your casing layer colonize. Forget patching. Just place in terrarium as soon as you see a couple spots poking up. You should induce pinning as soon as you place in terrarium.
-------------------- If you will it, it is no dream.

Hello,
I have done all of my casings using coir casing. Once I have cased I put everything in the grow chamber and wait for it all to happen. I have been very succesful with this method.
