I want a kitty

So I've been wanting to ge a kitty for as long as I can remember, and I'm thinking it's time now that my life is becoming more and more stable.

What has been your experience searching for a kitty and making him home?
What should I know about kitty care in advance?

I too want a kitten. I would go to the local animal shelters before buying some some breedless kitten from a store.

Im pretty sure they put the kittens and puppies in the back of the shelters, and walk really really really slow, when they take you back there. Keep your eyes down.

I am not sure if they neuter cats at shelters or not? probably something to look into.

Orange colored males are normally sterile
Orange females are really really rare, but not useful in breeding.

ahh kitty's are the shit!. its funny I always wanted a kitty too. and right when I was thinking to get a pet. my kitty found me on the forest. if you get one make sure you change the litter box every day or it'll piss on your stuff. and if you are going to keep it indoor don't get it neutered or anything like that.

Actually female cats are often bitchy and vindictive. Like they'll shit on your pillow if they feel slighted. Male cats who have been neutered are pretty mellow and much more friendly in my experience. They're also larger. And if neutered rarely spray, never in my experience. And the pungent smell of a male cats urine disappears with neutering as well.

Also female cats display spraying behavior, just not as commonly. And female cats seem to be sensitive to having their bellies pet, possibly from the trauma of neutering.

Regardless of sex, cats are pretty low maintainance pets. Litter train instinctually, and if not terrorized are pretty content, friendly and purry. Just change the box regularly and keep em fed and watered and they take care of themselves. I prefer male cats.

Get a male cat! much cheaper to sterilize.. When it is sterilized it wont spray.
I got a male and a female, both where bought from private persons who advertised online. One was 3years when we got it(the female) the other was just 10 weeks..

Cleo was 13yrs old i guess
She is probably the most photographed kitty in the Shroomery because she was such a good and beautifull kittums cat
She was my little friend for a lot of years :frown:
