Outgrowing Your Friends?
    #2652856 - 05/08/04 10:21 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Okay so last night I went to my friend's house for a party. These guys used to be like my brothers to me. High School was nothing without them. Everywhere 1 went, the other followed. We were so close.

After HS ended - we all still hung out like crazy. Then I moved about 30 min away. I've only seen them maybe 4 times within the year.

Hanging out with them last night - they haven't changed. I feel like I outgrew them all. I'm bored of beer pong, sick of drama fights, tired of seeing them hit on these girls who have the personality of a fuckin rock (this one girl saw my ear plugs and said "ewwww so like that's there forever. why did you do that? are you crazy? I'd never do that because like when I get married and stuff I couldn't wear pretty earings."... mind your own business bitch).

It just sucks. I really don't have any friends left because I feel like I just don't like hanging out with them.

It happens all the time, you know? Not much to do about it.

Same here... its a just another factor of life. I've had to experience this millions of times having moved every several years and all.

What's up? Hey, I know how you feel. You know most of my oldest friends that i do still decide to keep around are there for "convenience?".  :undecided:  I know, it's kinda mean, but i'm sure they feel the same way. Times change, some of us change with it, and some of them don't. Just gotta move on......  Maybe you should get out more.  :yesnod:

oh yeah, i know the feeling... still keep close contact with a few friends from back in Michigan, but the large majority of them I see maybe once a year, get drunk, smoke a joint, and then realize that "shit i have nothing in common with these people anymore"

as filthysock said, its just another factor of life...

Thats the same way with me Del. But these guys wont let me go. They want to chill with me non stop. And it breaks my heart to try and break free. I known em since 1st grade. But one is a man whore who will do any thing. The other a drunk. And they both are just haters that wanna fight if some one looks at em wrong. I am just sick of there shit.

"get drunk, smoke a joint, and then realize that "shit i have nothing in common with these people anymore"
Yeah we do that like every night. I get high and drunk and just sit there like Ok now what. I cant talk to them.
Any ways I seem to get so bored at home and in my town I just get up and leave. Weather its to a city to a new state or cross country. I need to get to meet new peeps. I base most of my moves around music. Like now I am on the bisco minni tour. You meet cool kids and get to float around with em from show to show.

I was just watching the movie Stand By Me. I like this quote near the end of the movie: "It happens sometimes. Friends come in and out of our lives like busboys in a restaurant."

That couldn't be more true for me.. I've never had many friends at once, but I've had a lot where it seems where we just gradually stop hanging out. I really only have one friend now that I've had since I was really young. I wonder what that says about me...

I had an experience where I outgrew one of my friends but then grew back together again, and now we're as close as ever.

i know exactly what you mean.

i learned responsibility, but i can't say the same for them. they are mostly ages 22-27, but their minds are still in high school. i really want to move away from my friends now. i still love them; they are a great group of people. i need to get the hell away from them though.

I think my friends outgrew me. Or just plain stopped liking me. I don't have a single friend right now. All I have is the shroomery. It's kind of pathetic.

Yeah I know what ya mean too. Friend moved about 30 minutes away and ever since then we haven't really had much in common. Another friend of mine.. I have been close with him for years now, and will be for a long time unless we change alot, but we still will see each other quite abit.

It's just normal. Friends come and go and you make new ones.

yeah most of my friends that i knew since high school i've outgrown. most of them are huge drunks now and like to get in fights, drive around drunk, talk shit about other friends and just act like negative people in general. i've just totally gotten sick of that, i just like to "chill" hehheh. i never participate in any fights, but seeing how stupid and drunk they are makes me not want to hang out with people like that anymore. too bad a few of them are still good hookups though, so i cant totally shut them out lol.

Making new friends gets more and more awkward for every year that passes. I truely miss the days when you could just run to a sandbox where some stranger kids would sit and play, show them some cool toys and in an instant your friends.

I wonder what making new friends will be like when I finish school, I wonder if I'll even dare to make friends since I'm kinda weird about that in the beginning...
For now school is the primary source for friends... its easy liek that... but after school...?

Just my thoughts.

well personally as i get older i seem to make less and less friends. more selective and less opportunity (no bars and less parties type of thing) but the ones i do make are of a much higher caliber.

since my cousin (my lifelong best friend) and i had a falling out several years ago i cant say i have had a best friend since.. many good friends...i miss that kind of intimacy with another male, but annie is truely the best friend i have ever had. i would like to have a male "best friend" type of situation again sometime but my soul is weary to open up to another person in such away..only afraid to get hurt....my 2 cents on myself.
