should i go to muay thai or jujitsu?
    #6418501 -

I wanna train in muay thai but jujitsu looks good too.
I might do both but i'm not sure.

What do you think?

They are both sweet. Why not do both?

Ya do both.

If I had to choose I would train in muay thai though. It has more practical self defense use imo. Or just focus on muay thai and do light jujitsu training, it would bell you would need in real life situations.

eh, grappling is better self defense unless you plan on getting into a lot of fights where you're outnumbered. but if all you really want is self-defense, study aikido. that's excellent for almost any number of opponents that can physically come at you at once.

Ya but im saying just a little jujitsu is enough to be able to grapple the average shit starter, so just train in a bit then go full muay thai for straight ass kicking

Which is fine if you're 1 on 1. But if you're in a bar and the guy's buddies come in swinging a chair.. you're fucked.

Thats also because most people cant fight. If one of them can well then only one of them will end up on the floor.

I would do both. Learning to strike and grapple is a good combination to have.

Learning those martial arts for self defense is pointless. You'll spend years and years at it, and real mauy thai if you don't improve the way your master wants you to improve, you don't move up until you're perfect at it. (As compared to Tae Kwan Do which now adays you pay for your belts, it's guaranteed in 4 years to have a black belt, and most black belts can't fight).

Serious martial arts isn't learned for self defense, but rather as a way of life. You'll give up or quit after a month if you're just learning it for the bar. :P

In my opinion Muay Thai is more practical if you are wanting something for self-defense. At least if other people were to jump into the fight you wouldn't already be defenseless and on the ground.

BJJ would only benefit you if your opponent had a strength/weight advantage or perhaps was a better stand-up fighter than you. However, the latter is probably not the case since most people have no fight training, and is the reason (like posted above) that most fights end up on the ground.

But in the end I think fighting is stupid and to practice any martial art for that purpose is ignorant.

YING JOW PAI - EAGLE CLAW KUNGU ...COMBINES THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!!!

Or Hung Gar the most powerful form of kung fu IMO!!

Train in one system that does everything you need don't train in 2!!

If you want to do one of those two do jujitsu your prolly better off they understand the all elements of fighting also not just fighting on ground they are well aware of the situation.

I practice wing chun and eagle claw i am a super fast striker and i know all the locks for fighting on ground and standing and my grip is really strong its hard to shake my hand off and i will only grab you in a pressure point.

Modern Muay thai is not too advanced and more focused on physical power. Jujitsu its well more aware of the yin and yang power.

The origins of muay thai have been lost its no longer what it used to be in my mind it was invented in the shaolin temple and made it to thailand its not the real version.

I think learning a martial art for self defense is intelligent.

If you defend yourself with only your natural strength, you have no control, no sense to tell you how to do enough damage but stop before killing.

If you learn the control and discipline of martial art, you will be able to disable your opponent more easily, with less risk to their life.

I have only been in one streetfight (absolutely unavoidable as far as I believed at the time) and the years I put into wrestling ended the fight quickly and with little blood.
