I wish I had the ability to not hold grudges. I've been jumped before. Fucked me up mentally. Even to this day, my ego has a hard time letting it go (mushies shall fix this in due time).
Some guy has recently discussed jumping me to some girls who I believe accidentally told me haha. I can't wait to single him out in public. I'm by no means a dick but I don't have the capacity to walk away from a physical threat like that. Besides, I want him to return back to his dorm with a more humble mindset. I believe it'd be a favor.

human experience said: There is not really a best style. I agree, that style is not that important, but the practitioner's ability, spirit, and intent. Yet, I would suggest finding a fighting system that is well rounded and versatile. IMO a good M.A. Toolbox: (striking, kicking, ground fighting, joint locking, weapons, hard/soft, long/short range, etc..). Application of skills is where it's at. If you can't apply the skills, it's just kung fu dancing, not fighting.
"I don't fear the 1000 kicks you know, but the one kick you practiced 1000 times" --Shaolin Monk
If some one has learned 6 styles, they are still a student and masted none. IMO, it take at least 10 years to be proficient in a fighting system.
Really love that quote about the kick you've practiced 1000 times
At this point I don't practice any form of martial arts - only a short series of moves which I know from experience work well together. Its a simple approach but effective, because no matter how predictable a front kick is you have to be faster than the person throwing it and you can get pretty damn fast practicing a few things over and over again.

seen it happen more than once. Having a title doesn't mean all that much.

By singling him out, I didn't mean to hurt him, if you're implying that I made the threat. I just want to confront him on his threat. But regardless, the appropriate thing would be to walk away... which i'm just gonna try to do.

he made a verbal threat, not a physical threat. a verbal threat is easy to laugh at, when it become physical, wreck him and then rape him in front of everyone so they'll know he's your bitch

When I mean physical threat, I meant a threat to physically harm me. Should've clarified haha. And yes, wreck, rape, bitchage. I like the way you think.

JKD - I'm interested in everything.
Trained a bit under two fairly advanced students specializing in Monkey/Snake Kung Fu for one and JKD/Ninjitsu for the other.
I think I actually found a good JKD school near me.

Yep, been in martial arts off and on my whole life pretty much.
My predominant martial art was shotokan karate, although I don't train in it anymore.
i've been a competing wrestler. i've trained in judo
I've trained a little bit of BJJ.
I've been in a lot of bar fights when I was younger
As I go through a particularly difficult chapter in my life, I realize I've always dreamed of competing in MMA. I've played around at some of the gyms, but never REALLY got into it.
I've had people who train say I'd be a killer...I've had people constantly bugging me to take training seriously and possibly compete.
I've always had excuses. Family, kids, the fiance, finances, etc.
As I'm no longer with anyone...it's time to realize my dreams. Time to take advantage of the physical and mental benefits training will provide me in a time of need.
Time to kick some ass.
I will post a video sometime in the far future of my first competition in the cage

Most people tend to miss that at a basic level M.A. is more about training-refining the mind and spirit. I think the real value in learning M.A. is that it can be applied to many areas of life. Kung Fu is translated to "skill from effort". Like anything, to become good at it (master), you need to work your ass off.
It not uncommon for martial artists get their asses handed to them in street fights. There's always lots to be said for the intent of "raw street aggression". It's a valuable lesson for everyone. As a M.A. I have always wondered how it can be developed outside of growing up in hard screwed up neighborhood. If anything a martial artist may be more relaxed, energy efficient, and adaptable in a fighting/survival situation. Yet, if somebody is 100% focused on biting off my ear, it will be challenging to stop them.

I will look into Fong, thank you Prisoner#1.
Great list of Bruce Lee quotes including this one which echoes human experience - "You must have complete determination. The worst opponent you can come across is one whose aim has become an obsession. For instance, if a man has decided that he is going to bite off your nose no matter what happens to him in the process, the chances are he will succeed in doing it. He may be severely beaten up, too, but that will not stop him from carrying out his objective. That is the real fighter." here:http://www.quotespapa.com/authors/bruce-lee-quotes.html

I've rolled and sparred with people who compete and have no problem gaining the upperhand, hence why they bug me to take training seriously I guess
Far future as in, my goal is to be having an amateur fight in a year or less. I need to get my confidence back. And more importantly...my cardio. lol god I'm out of shape

Good luck with it, I'd like to compete for fun but kind of hesitant after my last full contact. Wasn't my first time getting roughed up but I was coughing up blood and teeth, bad memory.

haha yeah, I've experienced a bad ass beating before, without refs.
i won in the unofficial rematch though
I've never had my teeth knocked out though. That would suck
I've had my nose completely pulverized and exploding before...I relished in it. Started screaming at the sky, like scary tyler durden shit. I scare people when I'm fighting in a street fight setting, or so I've been told lots of times.
I haven't seen that side of me in many years though. We all have to grow up eventually
I like the idea of competing with refs and commissions and such.
I don't mind getting beat up though. I just want to realize a dream I've always had.

Exploding nose, that sounds like not fun
People tend to be intimidated by me as well, but when it comes to it I've lost as many fights as I've won. I think people are more worried about me throwing a molotov at them, not that I'd ever do that but I'm kind of ugly
