Panneolus subbalteatus ( the weed mushroom ) grows everywhere in the world, even Saskatchewan. They love rotting haystacks, and sometimes cow pies.

Well, if you're in Saskatchewan look around fields in rotting haystacks in the fall. Also look in cow grazing fields. I'm sure there's plenty of those around where you live. I live in BC, so I consider myself lucky, but you should have at least SOME luck if you look hard enough.

Panaeolus subbalteatus--they sell the spores on mush mush and show some photos. There is a bit of information in this forum as well. I think they come out in the spring. I am ordering the spores because I am going to try and grow them in my garden in Toronto. They are native here. They are small mushrooms and some say a bit weaker than cubensis, but then you just eat more. If you can't find them, then grow them in the haystacks. The reason they call them the weed mushroom is that they infect muchroom farms and take over the beds. They even grow in Alaska so I am sure they will grow there in Saskatchewan.
