new orleans

my 21st birthday is on february 11, and from february 12-16 im going to new orleans. im getting free travel money and a free hotel room for the time im down there on a company's bill. ive never been before, and i wanted to know if anyone had some advice for places to go/things to see.

the only plan i have right now is getting smashed at Harrah's and winning some poker money and goin to all the good titty bars. but i want to know if there are any specific jazz clubs that are really good or any recommendations yall might have.

Don't waste too much time at a casino. New Orleans has too much history- you can go so many places and gamble. If you want jazz try Preservation Hall. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preservation_Hall

Do make a stop in Pat O'Briens, check out the River Walk and finish your night or morning at the Cafe Du Monde- a French Quarter institution and great place for tipsy folks to drink coffee and beignets. (powdered donuts). But overall you can't go wrong- you WILL have a damn good time there regardless.

Wander around and go where the spirit moves you..

My dad went to new orleans for hit first time last year and had a great time. He doesn't drink or party and new orleans is def out of his element. But he still had fun.

I can't recommend anything except have a good fuckin birthday!  :thumbup:

Yeah, that's the thing..you can be young or old, it doesn't matter you can have a damn good time in New Orleans. There is a place for all ages and tastes crammed into one little spot called the French Quarter. If you CAN'T have fun in New Orleans something is wrong with you! Seek professional help immediately!!

oooh i cant wait. im staying in the ritz carlton on canal street, so ill be able to walk everywhere. the more i think about it, the more potential i think this trip has to become legendary. im going with one of my best friends who is also my favorite trip partner, so some mushrooms might be in order one night.

were gonna be in the thick of the parades and pre-mardi gras parties, i cant wait!
