PANs Pinning help!?

About how long does it take for Pans to start pinning after lowering temp. and introducing light, etc.? My casing has looked the same for 5 days after initial runthrough. Is this OK or is it dead? I misted it very little after the mycelium started to poke through after casing runnout. Now there seems to be no new fluffy mycelium trying to poke through. Is this OK or am I just being too impatient? The white spots/haze is mycelium.

Give it a few more days looks like its about to pin specially if it stopped growing more mycellium.
Could be contams underneath tho.

OK Thanks. Waiting.... Stopped misting for the moment. I believe that misting was knocking down some good mycelium growth. Still only see white growth under the casing surface with a little popping up here and there. Nothing else. Guess that is good.

Wait 14 days total, from casing. If they haven't pinned by then, something is wrong. Do a scratching of the casing layer, but not a DEEP scratch. Just enough to make contact with the mycelium's surface below. bring the casing soil back up to the proper moisture content, and wait.
Usually a lack of pinning is associated with poor casing soil moisture content. Overly wet, or overly dry.
If proper moisture content has been achieved, and no contamination is present you should see pins by day 9-14 MAXIMUM. Even with contamination you usually see at least a few pins, they just don't mature so good.

Thanks.
How can one tell if the casing is too moist? Too dry is easy to observe. Using 50/50 w/COIR. 1/4" - 1/2"

the casing layer with pans. is best at a maximum of 1/4 inch. They fruit quicker with the VERY thin casing layer. More of a dusting then a layer.
I don't use coir, so I don't really know how well it stays wet/dry. Peat is difficult enough to keep at the proper moisture content, adding coir would only complicate it for me. A simple <1/4 inch layer of peat:perlite works very well. Misting once a day, lightly.
My suggestion is to just keep doing what your doing, if you have had success before with your casing mixture, it is probably o.k. Just wait the full 14 days, if nothing happens, break up the caing layer, and give it some more time.
You should get something!!!!!

the perlite in your layer is why your casing drys so quick

My casings don't dry up!!!! Take your vermiculite and snort it. Just kidding.
I have no trouble using a straight peat:perlite casing without lime. Been doing it for as long as i can remember. Perlite doesn't dry up your casing. It is not the moisture holding component for me. Peat is. Perlite adds porespace(air). Also use it in substrate mixtures with NO PROBLEMS.

teonan-
very interesting to hear about your use of perlite in both casing layers and substrate mixes. someone brought this up a couple months ago, and the responses were all negative. guess it goes to show you how people make assumptions.
take care! stay safe... -bizarro

Took the advice of sticking a fork in the casing about 1 inch every inch and twisting a few degrees from side to side. Did this three days ago. Yesterday saw first signs of tiny white dots. Looks like Pins to me. Pins! Pins! Pins!
Should the RH be dropped to 85% at this point?
Thanks for the advice Ralphster and others.

Sometimes oyster shell in your casing helps increase pinning and creates bigger flushes, last time I grew some cyans I had full flushes 12inches high with wide caps. Just a suggestion.

What is the duration from white dots to mushrooms?
Ralph, do you use the fork method on all of your casings?
How do you achieve the Pan forest look? Even pinset?
