Thought I'd update on blood;
It really kinda sucks. Growth is not only faster on PDA/Sab., but you can see mycelial characteristics as well. As the mycelium grew on blood, it partially hemolysed the media, turning it from red to a dark brown [alpha hemolysis]. So you could see where growth was, but not really the characterstics--forget trying to separate sectors on blood.
But the big point is that it really isn't even faster.
BTW, I tried p. trop, equador, gt's, PF.

Sheep blood agar may be good for culturing certain microbes, however it will select for the isolation of species which like haemoglobin. A word of warning: this includes many types of pathogenic bacteria that couls cause infection. I would not recommend it for growing mushroom cultures. Take care!

I don't like the sound of gourmet mushroom grown from sheep blood, especially if you're vegetarian. Malt/yeast extract agar is the best for my purposes.
