Question for agar or other advanced cultivators
    #4212023 - 05/23/05 11:18 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Was reading bluhoney's post about blood meal... I've heard agar mention kelp meal as a nice additive for more potent fruits...

What about bone meal? Or fish meal? Just about every garden place I've called around here doesn't carry kelp meal, but one does have bone and fish meal. Would these work as well?

Its really tough to state "true" potency additives. Really what alot of successful potent harvests are accomplished by meeting the needs of an individual strain. Then if the conditions are optimal- the full potential of the strains genetics will come through. So in experimenting, you try different recipes to meet those conditions. Its true that you may have alkaloids from certain substrates that will leech into the growing fruit, however my friend relies on trying to make the compost, straw, poo, what the case may be as nutrient dense as possible- relying on the genetics of the particular strain to maximize the chemical makeup of the fruit.:) bluhoney

Bone & blood meal are "N" hot. If you use a sub lacking in N, they will add it. But, be forewarned... those additives can turn a sub so N hot, it will not colonize well, if you add to much.

Kelp meal adds optimal trace elements & vitamins.
