What do you seek?
    #625370 - 05/03/02 12:44 AM (22 years, 7 months ago)

People who visit The Shroomery come here for a common reason (except the cops - my wayward fascist children). A subset of those that visit frequent the Spirituality and Philosophy forum. I am going to go out on a limb and say that those who are reading this forum and those who are posting to it are all seekers. Do you seek to find like minded individuals? Do you seek some spiritual enlightenment? Do you seek a perspective other than your own so as to provide an illuminating contrast? Do you seek validation for your beliefs? To you seek constructive criticism so as to help you grow? Do you seek to exercise your mental faculties by engaging in debate? Or do you merely seek a way to occupy the moments between the terribly audible ticking of the clock which measures your humble existence?

Please refrain from debate or criticism in this thread and share with others what you seek and (if you know) why you seek it...

Love,

The Lord

First, i will be honest: I have no social life. Probably the main reason I come here is to simply have some conversation. But there is really nothing i would rather talk about than the Big Questions. Talking (typing) to people forces me to think through ideas that have found their way into my head but have not found an outlet. So it is sort of a check on my thoughts and opinions - they're different when you look at someone else looking at them. I do not really need criticism or validation, although I appreciate both, rather, I need to see an idea manifested in reality so that i can perhaps gain a more clear and honest view of what my thoughts actually are.

Even now I am re-reading what I have just written and I am thinking "hmmm. i don't know if that's quite right" but just getting it out and practicing the art of articulation is good.

Peace.

I think the ART of conversation has , for the most part, been replaced with nothing more than a battle of egos and pissing contests. That's not to say I am speaking of HERE specifically. I mean in general. people can no longer have a good conversation or even a debate without it turning into an all out BATTLE. So, here, although really no different, at least there is a common starting point. I ,too, believe that if you are here, especially the Spirituality Forum, more than likely you are seeking out MORE than the average Joe on the street.  We tend to question more and delve deeper. We have a bit of anonymity to help us along and feelings 'usually' don't get as hurt. Then again, some take the freedom and anonymity  for granted and use it to bash others' beliefs, feelings, or ideas. That is something we will always be faced with.

To answer the question though, I have always been a very inquisitive and spiritual person. I came here seeking others who believe as I do but also those I have ALWAYS looked for...the opposing opinions. WHY? Because I am not a sheep, I do not follow the leader or do as I am told. I like to question, think, debate, decipher, discuss, invent, pretend, realise, and most of all I like to CONNECT. There is nothing like the feeling of that spark you get when you REALLY, TRULY connect with another human being. Without the superficial, judgmental BS that can hinder a deep one on one...you have two people or a group of people who are able to just be themselves. And whether we approve of them or believe what they believe or even like them has no bearing on the connection THEY may make with you or someone in our group.  They are able to put themselves out there, be more open and honest or profess things they could not before.
We are not all meant to look, think, feel, like the same things or act alike. If that were the case, it would make for a VERY boring world...and HEY..it would be a bitch finding your car in a parking lot
But having common ground is necessary  to human relations. If we feel alone or different and have no connections in the world...we are lost. I seek to find those connections here just as much as I seek them out in the "real world".

 ~K~

Before i start i will mention that this is chemblue, i like to alter my identity when i discover some new information both on the internet and within myself as an extension of that information.

First i will say that the whole reason i came to this site was simply curiosity, curiosoty of the unknown, curiosity that someone might be able to tell me whats going on in this crazy world.

What i am begining to find is not at all what i thought could be found.

I'm sure that most of you have read at least one or two of my posts and have thought to yourselves, man this kid is screwed in the head.

I have come to the point now where there is an extensive realization of the illusion which is humanity, but that is not necassarily a bad thing.

First i will share this tonights experience with you. I returned home from work this evening and continued my reading on the afterlife and " what it contains ". I started getting really fucked up, i mean really fucked up. I started hearing conversations in my room and weird noises and seeing entities outa the corner of my eye. At my peak i walked into my family room and could hear a girl laughing and playing with a ball, i was so high that it didn't even strike me as being that far out, then again nothing does anymore. I then proceeded to go outside for a smoke, and for a bit i thought i was already typing these words to you, then i realized i was talking to myself and this fucked me up worse, i was having fun though.

Anyways i think it is worth your while, and i say this loosely to check out the site for yourself. It was weird cause it actualy explained to me what my healing " dream " actually was ( they called it focus 25 ). When i read there words they spoke to me, thats how it felt. www.afterlifeknowledge.com

peace>

i started visiting this board because the variety and peculiarity of my experiences with the spirit, sober and spinning, were such that i couldn't really talk to my friends any more, even those with extensive psych experience.  here i can share my heartsong about what i've seen, practice and refine my play of words, and pick up new metaphors, allegories and puns to hint at what i've noticed and wish to convey.  i enjoy reading other people's yarns and theories, and i find hopping on here is a great stress relief, a mental relaxant to start my day, and also a reminder [WHOMPWHOMPWHOMP] to keep me from taking my day or myself too seriously.  it's an entertainment, as estragon says, but it's also an outlet for a social instinct that the physical world can't fulfill for me right now.  the internet makes it possible to encounter the six other people in the world who share whatever random interest you might have

As you can see, my title says "eternal seeker"

I don't have any illusions that I will actually see "The Ultimate Truth".
I think it will always be just beyond our grasp. But I seek for the purpose of seeking. I think the journey is more important than the destination. Everything that we learn from life ultimately points to who we are instead of what the universe is.
We can never see the truth but maybe in the process of seeking the truth I will learn more about myself and human nature.

So God, I guess I'm here seeking you. (and here you are!)
But even as I talk to God I am only talking to a human concept of God. You only exist as a perception, a jumble of neurons and electrical impulses in my brain. But I hope to see the real you one day when I have shed myself of all those neurons and imperfect human senses. I hope to be One.

Just to have a little fun discussing ideas.  I don't mean to offend but I actually enjoy
the sometimes heated debates here.  Why don't I debate?  To be honest, I dont know what I believe in enough to argue it.  I try to keep an open mind.  Eau, and I'm looking for a friend too (always).  Maybe you could be my friend Lord.

Hearing and understanding other peoples beliefs and ideas...and sharing my own life and experience.

As You well know Lord, every time I have tried to escape people and just go live on a mountain somewhere, You throw me right back into the middle of a group that needs my help.

I have come to love myself....and therefore I love my fellow man.....yiks! Gotta go (wayward fascist children........)
