Trying to expand my music tastes
    #6165434 -

I am looking for suggestions of music to listen to that I may not have heard of because I'm 30 and getting more out of touch.

if anybody feels like sharing some suggestions, that would be appreciated.

While i like some mainstream music and the classics, I'm looking for suggestions of music from the last 15 years by non mainstream, obscure or even small local or defunct bands/artists.

My two most favorite albums ever are
Meathook Seed - Embedded
and Black Uhuru- The Dub Factor
And I'd reccomend them to anybody

I dont care about genre, just let me know what your favorite one or two albums might be and I'll research them in my spare time to see if I like them.

I really don't know anything about rave/electronic/triphop/pschycedelic rap type music, but I would especially like to hear suggestions about that.

thanx

Both Vibrasphere albums "Lime Structure" and "Archipielago" are master pieces. Both albums are progressive psy. They're great albums for when your in that chill mood.

Check out the links in my Techno Journal Entry

Also, I would HIGHLY recomend looking into Richie Hawtin DE9: Closer To The Edit, and DE9: Transitions -- both of those albums are works of art, Transitions is amazing - its like an anti-anxiety pill in audio form, love it so much.

Got any links to the Hawtin stuff? Even just a single song or two.

Whoa!  A fellow Uhuru fan!  Didn't think there were many of us out there...

Do you listen to any other reggae?  Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh...?  If not I'd definitely check some of them out.

I've never heard of that other favorite album of yours, so I don't really know where else to go as far as recommendations.  The Grateful Dead and Bob Marley always do it for me, as do Robert Randolph, Shpongle, The Strokes, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Nas, Allman Bros.... (too eclectic to be much help, I'm sure - for me it all depends on the mood!)

to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”
