no jars... cups?

there arnt any wide mouthed jars were i live :frown:
a friend showed me a site with a tek using regular drinkning glases and sealing the top with aluminium paper (sealing it good)

but when i tried it i only about 1/4 of my jars didnt dry out... i didnt put a layer of verm. just brf+verm+water in a cup, sealed with a double layer of tightened aluminium foil and another layer over that. i boiled it in a pot with a lid for 2 hours and injected the spores...

now i looked at it and saw that the jars were dry, so i injected about 20cc of water to each jar.

did anyone use this tek successfully?
is what i did ok?
why did those cups dry out and how come some sayed wet?

i suppose only time will tell. ps, there are wide mouth jars where you live, or within 50 miles, unless u live in a shack in the badlands

How did you seal the cups, wrap a rubber band around the lip of the cup over the foil?

Hi,
I have the same problem, No wide mouth canning jars here, Unless i wanna spend 1 months wages shipping them from overseas.
Anyway, Yes i use the same method as you. You may have went wrong in boiling times, I boil 1 hour and use the dry verm seal. I have 7 drinking glasses, Innoced with Mazza's and all around 90% colinozed. 1 went green. So 6 out of 7 ain't bad.

I used Anno's PF for simple minds ( www.fungifun.org/pf/ ) with plain drinking glasses and foil and had no problems. I used a pc and home ground BRF and they didn't dry out. For a while I thought that they looked really dry but then once the mycelium started taking over there was plenty of moisture inside the glasses.
