Overlay problem from hell >pics<
    #603161 - 04/09/02 09:42 AM (22 years, 7 months ago)

My friends first time using coco-coir. The casing layer is 1/2" thick. Birdseed substrate. These were coldshocked after 3 days of casing as there was a lot of mycelium. Further 1/4" of casing layer been added. In fruiting chamber since coldshocking @ 71F to try to induce pinning.

Ok, as you can see there isn't much room to 'patch' this up. First time using coco, and never needed to coldshock before. This has been in the pinning terrarium for 3 days.

Any suggestions?
Just let it go?
Maybe a thin layer of 50/50
BTW there is a casing of 50/50 which is 1 week older, with no sign of this problem at all, maybe in future straight to pinning stage after casing in coir?

Drag a fork thru it. It should be fine.

Be sure your fork is sterile and that you don't have any contamination in the casing or you will spread it.

I knew this would pop up, i should have said, no they're not peurto's. Golden Teachers

As for the fork dragging, will this not disrupt any hyphal knot formation that may be going on?

Thanks

I'd let them fruit....and don't deep scratch em.

Next time you use Coco Coir.... watch em a little closer.
Some strains rip through the Coco Coir really fast.
As soon as you see any white......fruit em.
Puerto Ricans.... I wouldn't even incubate.....straight to the fruiting chamber.

I had a problem with South Americans overlaying in Coco Coir.
They consumed the stuff over night....pissed me off badddd.
They fruited ok....I was more careful on the second casing of S.A's.

Live and learn bro.
