Problem with mycelium *pics*

This is my first time growing, I?m using PF classic and I inoculated the jars on 6/15.All of them are completely covered but as you can see below, the mycelium isn?t a solid white nor is it the same texture throughout the jar(some parts look really smooth, while other parts look bumpy with the verm/brf showing through). Some parts do have a different color tint however this is where the brf/verm is present(I am using an extremely fine grade of verm). None of the jars smell nor do they show any signs of contamination and I was wondering if it?d be ok to birth them. I?m just afraid that it might be too early and when I open it, the whole cake will crumble. The earliest I plan on birthing them if they?re OK is 7/13. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't worry about a thing they look like they are doing great to me. 7/13 should be fine for birthing you could even wait a few extra days if you wanted.

that is normal, put the jars away for 4-6 days and have fun getting stoned on weed.
Thanks a lot for the advice and how'd you know I was gonna get stoned....damn psychics! I guess I'm so giddy to succeed that I'm obsessing over every minute aspect.

Hey there,
Those jars look juicy but you might wait for the priMORdia to show up just for fun...that is what the PF man says anyway. Good luck!!

Your jars look fine. You should only wait for primordia if you are doing cakes, with casings that is not necessary.
Good luck!

Sorry for hijaking your post for a second, but Im going inot my first growth soon (waiting on spores) and just wanna see if Ive got this straight, just so I know Ive actually been learning osmething.
It makes sence to wait for the pin heads, when doign a PF tek, simply because you keep the cakes a whole during the whole proccess, and that shows that theyre definitly ready to be birthed. Whereas if youre doing something that uses a casing (like a wafer tek) you should birth before the pin heads, because youre going to be cutting the cakes, and wouldnt wanna damage any growing mushrooms.
Have I got it?
Sorry, again!

You would not wait for primordia when doing a casing. If there was primordia you would pick them off when prepairing the casing. I never get primordia forming in my jars even if I wait up to 2 months. I also keep my jars in a dark place and very rarely expose them to l ight. I only use casings so I guess this helps me.

primordia forming in jar is for the pf classic strain.
some strains will not form primordia invitro.

This is a sort of off topic question but I was wondering if it'd be ok to cold shock/dunk the jars prior to birthing them even if primordia is showing. I've read that if you dunk them before the first flush you can get higher yields but I was curious if it would/could damage the primordia. Thanks.

Geez Danimal, they look real good to me, I'd say birth 'em, dunk em 12 hours in cold water and put 'em in your terrarium with some verm on either end misted a couple of times a day.
