I had this thought... Only a thought, discuss w/ me and share ideas if you would :>
I have a strong feeling of being a small sensory organ in a huge organic/energetic body/system. What if?... The universe, after millions of years of being lonely matter, evolved to 'explore' itself. Perhaps life IS the universe merely feeling, tasting, touching, seeing, itself? Exploring who and what it is? Why its here, what its doing..
What if, the universe (the cosmos) is the body, we and all sentient beings are like cilia, and there is a collective consciousness, the brain? We all receive information (experiences, emotions, ideas, creativity) and relay it to the brain.
Could you, your dog, the fly on sitting on your desk, or the micro-organisms floating in the air in front of you, be one giant organism, receiving information, relaying it threw some kind of cosmic nervous system, to this vast infinite place of experience, knowledge, etc. And if we could send information, can we also receive it? If this model follows, I would believe so.
I see it like birth/life.
A build up of energy.. sex,
and explosion of energy, big bang.. orgasm,
cooling.. sperm and egg meet,
universe beings to form.. cells begin to multiply, At this stage, there is no formed consciousness, or little. Cells being planets, stars, just matter.
Something happens, a spark, out of no where-breath, molecules bind together to form first life form.. brain, CNS, systems etc form.
An explosion of life, conscious beings form, pure experience.. birth. Time moves on, life changes, morphs, explores, dies, lives, creates, questions, destroys.. Systems begin to mature, advance, evolve. Life, infancy, childhood, formation of self.
Since we are a creation of this universe, and we're created based on the laws of this universe, would it be far fetched to say we are created much like the universe itself? Is our body a semi replica, or a mirrored structure of the cosmos around us?
Hmmm..

It certainly is. Human beings are not separate from the universe. We ARE the universe. We are made of the same elements as everything else around us. I think it is an assumption all too often made that human beings are somehow different or separate from the universe.
Is our body a semi replica, or a mirrored structure of the cosmos around us?
In some senses, yes. We are made of the same elements the universe is made of. We are impermanent, and everything else in the universe is impermanent. We have no-self and nothing else in the universe has a self either. We do not inherently exist, and neither does anything else in the universe. We are microcosms of the cosmos!

Excellent post conveying what I have felt to be true on many occasions.

This is the part that trips me up. If this universe can be modeled as a collective living system, it seems that life here on earth are like involuntary organs in the scheme of things. Like you say cilia. But can the cilia form a conscious contact with this "brain?" I hope we have a better chance than the cilia in our bodies.
straying from the topic a bit, but trying to apply this system a bit.
I've been watching some series called steven hawking's universe, and these people are trying to figure out the origins and fate of the universe. But there are all these roadblocks presenting themselves, and they have been forced to deal with something they call dark matter which would have to account for something like 99% of the matter in the universe to allow our physics to work. If the matter that we are accustomed to dealing with barely registers, I feel sorry for these guys.
Well they figured out the big bang, but like you said that's just the beginning. The current stage of life this system is in is much more complex. I guess in order to piece our bodies or our system together from the big bang that started us would require some DNA. Well good luck finding the "DNA" of the universe if we are oblivious to most of it.
I've also been reading some of the don Juan books, and have found them to be excellent. I don't understand all of it, but when some of it starts to click, I can see this guy is for real or Castaneda was a genius. If there is any way to connect to this "brain," I feel don Juan was very much qualified. And that's exactly what it is. A feeling; which is what a lot of his knowledge rests upon.
This chart shows the limitations of reason which we are using to figure out the universe.

I can barely comprehend a practical application of this. I think we will remain cilia until we can break free of reason. It took us this long to feel comfortable using reason to describe our world, and now it has a stronghold. Along with its benefits come limitations that will surely be realized by all those physicists.
