My Wakarusa/ Bonnaroo Review

Wakarusa:
I have to say that this was musically some of the best concert experience i've had. Most of the people I saw was for the first time so naturally iw ould be blown away by a lot of them.
Flaming Lips was probably the highlight, but Les Claypool with Buckethead coming out on stage was pretty amazing as well. Keller Williams solo and with The Keels were great, Bird Song blew me away. I chekced out some New Monsoon which was also great cause they ended with Fearless. Disco Biscuits and Lotus were fabulous. Andrew Bird was nice. HurraTorpedo was probably one of the most entertaining things i've seen.
So yea the music was great, but everything else about it was lame. There were cops driving by our campsite every half hour/hour. I felt like iwas on a colelge campus hiding out. My friend got busted with 10g's of headies and if they found his molecule he would've been thrown in jail. All the bunk drugs really brought us down. The vibe not only sucked as well as non existent. All in all it's not worth the 20+ hour drive.
Bonnaroo:
Bonnaroo was fantastic. The music was great despite the fact that oysterhead let me down. I was literally left speachless by Radiohed, Phil Lesh, Disco Biscuits, Tom Petty and Beck. Those were the highlights for me. The SUperjam was ok. I saw moe. for the first time and thgouth ti was pretty good.
Aside from the music i met some great shroomerites. I met Blissedout Danksis and their gorgeous son Elijah, Newway2sayhurray Robert and yoshie. It was really awesome meeting you guys and i truely hope i see you again in the future. that was definitely a highlight and one of the best days i had at bonnaroo. I met a couple of others who i can't seem to remember but unfortunatly didn't get to spend as much time with the rest as i would've licked at all. Maybe next time.
The over all vibe at Bonnaroo was great. by the second or third day i couldn't imagine not starting my summer with such a great festival. The mushroom fountain and the firefly garden and the fire sculptures and the sheer beauty of 90,000 people all together was quite overwhelming. No cops, no bunk drugs, just easy riding and good times.
What did y'all think?

OysterHead let you down? How so thats all I wanted to go for. I guess Im glad I didn't then seeing as Im really not into most those other bands. What did anyone else think of OysterHead?

Yeah...I can personally attest to the fact that there was ALOT of bunk stuff. I've never bought fake acid in my life, but some douche sold me fake blotter before Radiohead and fucked up my night.
Anyways, I still had a blast and I thought the Oysterhead show was bad ass, especially considering it was their first one back since 2002. I've seen Trey and Les tons of times so I knew what to expect from them, but Stewart Copeland blew my mind! He just stole the show in my opinion.

I think your problem is you were expecting something. I always have the best times when I leave my expectations at home. Someone else in the thread said they were awesome so who knows I guess. It's cool you were safe and had a good time though. It would probably have been alot cooler if Primus played instead of OysterHead. I think their holding off for a year or or so to headline Bonnaroo.

Well i was really impressed with Les Claypool's and Copeland's performance, but the sound at the show i felt was lacking as well. There were a lot of times when i couldn't even hear claypool or his bass. Trey was really sloppy and i could hear that the most. i mean there were definitely point where i was like "ooo, coool. ooo now trey is playing well." but for how great the three of them are it didn't match up. it felt like they didn't practice much. i dunno. it was too choppy for me.

Hey ANI!!! I thought about you guys a few times over the weekend, but never ran into you, again. It made me a sad panda. You need to send us some pics of what you took! I got alot, but I think the quality of the pics will be better with your camera. Here's one for the books.

I have 4 pages worth on my photobucket, but I'm too tired to upload them, right now.

Yea i was thinking about you guys over the weekend too. I walked by the RV during Tom Petty and no one was there, i walked by a couple of times through out the weekend and no one was there.
Like i said, meeting you guys was one of the biggest highlights of the trip. I was sad that we didn't get to spend more time together but i really hope i get to see you all again.
About the pics, yea you'd think mis Photo major here would've done a good job. Some of them came out a little too dark, certainly darker than the digi pic you just put up. In any case i did get some adorable, precious shots and as soo as i can get to a scanner to scan those pics in i'll be sure to send them to you.

Awesome! Yeah, we went and walked around during Tom Petty. We found some nice pretties for Danksis. I really wish we would have hung out more, though. You and your friend were some of the coolest people that I got to meet and hang with the whole weekend. I'll see if I can talk DS into coming up to NYC sometime. Anyway, tell Danny I said wassup when you see him, will ya?

I'm not really sure as I didn't get a very good look at it. I actually still have one of the hits...heh. The guy said it was a Grateful Dead print, but who knows.
