might go, I was offered a free ticket if I work for some hippie chicks selling clothing, I would actually get paid too. It just cuts really close to an exam I have, Gr, to be responsible or to be young and enjoy life...

maybe we can get someone that is really motivated to get a list of all those definately attending... or, all those definately attending, PM me w/ your number, date arriving, etc, and I'll then make a mass PM to send out to all of those people that PM me w/ a phone list, etc.. make sense?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am taking care of that, as we speak. I have the list of folks that said they would most probably be there and I am about to do a mass PM with either your's, or blink's help. We will send another mass PM, when we figure out the name of the campsite that Camp Shroomery will be in.

I also plan to bring supplies etc... are you bringing a grill? I plan to bring a grill and some charcoal but if your bringing a grill then i will buy some meat at the walmart for everyone.

Allthough i wont be eating much after sat afternoon im sure.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Believe me, you will be ravenous!! If you bring a grill, I'll bring some charcoal and some stuff to cook. If youu want to buy some cheap food(i.e. hot dogs, cheese, bread, cheap sandwich meat, etc.) that would be great. I am going to bring food for the Shroomery camp, but it's not gonna be a freaking filet mignon, or anything.  I'll also bring condiments such as mayo, mustard, salt/pepper, plasticware, some paper plates , and some other things that I'll throw together. I bought a few of those tiki torch dealies, too, so the camp will have some light at night.

This camp will be pretty nice, I think. Especially if everyone helps out just a little. There are nearly 50 Shroomerites that said that that are more than likely going, so just a couple of small items from each person would make it really awesome, I think.

If anybody can think of anything that I am forgetting, or overlooking, then please say something, because I am doing all that I can, in the time that I have. We have 12 days left to get things in order and Bonnaroo is chaos at it's extreme, so we need to have our plans solidified in a timely fashion.

That's all for now. PMs are in the works.

I got my ticket today, no info or maps were sent, just the regular giant Roo ticket.

I didn't even ask her to, but my mom sent me an enormous tarp, and extra sleeping bag, a few LED lights, one is my designated "ground-score lamp" and a first aid kit.

so, way to go my mom...

I will probably bring 2 ice chests, one full of ice, and one full of beer, and if there is some room, I will try and bring some fruit, like oranges, banana's and apples aside from some random non-perishables.

I have quite a large budget for Roo, so I am going to probably hit up the enormous Outdoor World outlet they have here and grab some other group camp type stuff.

Yea, but if you just drink bottled beer at your site and don't litter I don't see the problem. They just don't want broken glass anywhere, which is quite understandable.

Me too! What the fuck?! Last year, we got the tix, plus how ever many roo tix you bought, you got the cd and that many maps/schedules! That's some fucked up shit and I plan on emailing Superfly about it. Well, I'll brainstorm and you guys/gals help me and we'll predetermine a camp only spot. Shroomism will be our scout, seing as he'll be there 2 days before anybody. So, shroomism, get a two way, or sumtin! Call me on my cell and let me know the best primitive site, closest to Centeroo is and I'll pass the word along. Others, if you want to, give Shroomism your cell #, too, so he can fill in the blanks. Help us, oh Shroomism jedi master ninja!!!

Walkie Talkies channel 4.. got it. I got my motorola 2 ways too.

Apparently they aren't sending me tickets or anything this year, I just get to show up and sign something.. yay

And holy crap.. the date is closer than I thought.

Anyways I got your number. If anyone else wants to you can PM me yours and I'll try and give a call when I have some solid info Tuesday night. But I guess until then or until someone gets a new map we'll just go with the plan as scheduled..

Definitely come prepared. Better to be over-prepared then not enough.
Don't forget your sunscreen (SPF 30+) as the tennessee sun in that field for five days is brutal and you WILL get burned if your complexion is anything like mine. Bring a hat that provides your head with shade. Blissed is bringing a canopy.. this is a very good thing in my experience.. shade = god. So bring what you can.

If it rains, you will be very glad that you brought raingear, even if it's one of those cheap $1 ponchos. Some waterproof boots would be a godsend. You could be quite miserable without these things, trying to tromp 1/2 mile through 6 inches of mud and rocks, soaking wet. Either way, rain or shine... bring some sneakers or boots to protect your precious feet, as you will likely do lots of walking. And try not to lose them. Every year thousands of pairs of shoes are lost and people suffer barefoot.. in my experience this is not an pleasurable event, as there are lots of sharp rocks, and extremely questionable mud. Blissed saved me after I lost my shoes last year, with a pair of sandals.  It isn't total protection.. but at least protects the bottom of your feet from being chewed up. Boots are good.

Although, setting up so close to Centeroo will give us the supreme advantage of not having to walk forever just to get there, as it will be just across the road.

Water is life, and people don't usually drink enough of it. Dehydration, and heat stroke, is a very real... very serious concern. Drink water often (beer does not count as water btw) and dont exert yourself in the sun for long periods of time. The average human body needs about a gallon of water per day to stay adequately hydrated, and that's before you take into account diuretics like salty, fried and processed foods, alcohol.. and water-draining activities like walking and dancing in the sun. So keep that in mind.. stay hydrated.. stay happy.

I'm hitching with a clean viber and coming minimalist style. Just the things I need for camping and my djembe, so unfortunately I wont have much to contribute to the communal site, but I will definitely bring some extra water and some fruit and stuff to share. As a warning... they have water there.. but it's well water... perfectly safe to drink.. but it tastes and smells like sulfur. I'll stick with the bottled stuff. Considering gallons of water are like 68 cents each at walmart, it's not hard to pick a bunch up.

There will be trash bags for trash (clear) and bags for recyclables (green)... use them... it takes zero effort. Every site will get them, and you can get more by asking any clean vibes person. We're there to help keep it clean.. but that doesn't mean we want to pick up your shit!! Trash is inevitable... but you can do your part by not throwing shit on the ground. Thanks.

So I think that covers the basics. Come prepared. Don't trash the site. Be respectful of your neighbors. Those are the golden rules. Be smart, be safe, have fun.

Very excited about the music and festivities. See you all there

PS - Don't forget your hand drums!
I'll tune them if you need
A drum circle must we have!!

What if every shroomery member brought a single tiki torch? That way, we would have a better chance of spotting each other (not many people would probably be carrying 1 tiki torch) and because it would be awesome to have tons of torches set up around our camp (another easy way to spot camp shroomery).

What do you guys think?

He got the same info sheet that everyone else did. The one that says "here are your Bonnaroo tickets!!". No map.

That's what I was thinking he was talking about, after I thought about it for a minute. After further thought, I have also came to the conclusion that we didn't get our maps/schedules until we went through the entrance check points.

Now, we need to determine the spot where we want to have the camp at. As stated before somewhere closest to Centeroo is the optimal choice of course. I think Shroomism is gonna help scout us out a good spot, but let's prepare, anyway. I have a mp/schedule from last year, but my camera's batteries are dead and I have to leave for work soon. Every year, there are camping only(no cars) directlt in front of the main stage/Centeroo entrance. I plan on getting there early and hopefully with the help of some others, get a good spot in one of these areas. I have alot of your cell numbers and my Motorola walkie talkie will be set on channel 4.
Here's a map of 2004's 'roo layout. The streets and avenues will be the same, I'm sure. The camp only spots run all along East Broadway. We want one closest to the bend, near the main stage entrance. I'm thinking the area on East Broadway, between 3rd and 4th avenue.

Large Version of above map

Give me some feedback. Yay, or nay?

I think that a spot that intensly close would be kind of.....open?

thousands of people constantly walking by, not to mention a much higher concentration of "security".

Setting up right near the gates would sketch me out a little.

Man, in my experience, there has been no "security" to speak of. Believe me, it's going to be a perfect spot. Those spots will fill up fast as hell, too. They will be full of people just like us. This will have been my 4th Bonnaroo and believe me when I say that anything goes. I didn't see a single police(not to say they weren't there), or any busts, except a big nitrous bust and those guys were sketchy and out of control anyway. Ended up they were even using automobile grade nitrous, which contains petroleum. Anyway, you shouldn't worry about security risks. We all(I hope) know how to conduct ourselves. I think it's the best spot, personally.

I don't think we have anything to worry about camping close to the gates.
However that spot you are talking about.. I believe last year that was an RV area. If memory serves me.. it was the camps to the left (west) of 3rd avenue that were camping only, plus the spots right in front of what stage. That's why I suggest camp dreadlocks as a general area.

Anyway... it IS a pretty high traffic area. But so is the rest of roo. And all the camping only spots are going to be near/right across from centeroo regardless. We don't have to camp right on the road... we can pick a nice spot near the back of the camp only area, so as not to be all close and up in East Broadway.. but still close to the action. I wouldn't want to camp right next to the road anyway.. just due to the thousands of people walking by every minute. And it's not like we'll be camping in an open field. Maybe at first, but many tents will fill up around us.

As far as 'security'.. we have absolutely nothing to worry about. As long as people aren't throwing glass bottles into the street.. shooting off fireworks.. causing mayhem, etc.. we will have no problems whatsoever. The bonnaroo security is just like me and you. But those guys on horses kind of creep me out. But don't worry.. .we'll pick the perfect camping only spot since we'll basically have first picks. Not right next to the road for sure.

I say YAY. The security concern could be easily remedied by making the campsite more-or-less in the middle of the camping-only section we choose to use, so that it is as far away from surrounding roads as possible.

We don't expect everybody to be hanging out at the Shroomery camp all of the time. God knows there's enough to do/see there, already. I just like the idea of having Camp Shroomery for those of us that want to meet and party/congregate/dance in a funky style.

Shroomism, I have a map from last year and the area between 3rd and 4th is def camp only spots, but that's also where that general store and ice truck was, so maybe consider the camp only area in between east broadway and east 1st street. Once you get your map, you'll see where I'm talking about. It is a good section. The 3 sections that I had in mind were called Camp Thunderlips, Camp Paulie, and Camp Shooter McGavin. If any of you have one of last year's maps, scan it and show everyboby the area that I am speaking of. If not, I'll buy some batteries tomorrow and take some pics of the map and post it. They change the names of the campsites every year.() We'll figure it out. We've gotten this far and this is a helluva lot better planning than last year, btw. I can't fucking wait to meet you all!!!

I forgot to buy the damned batteries, so I am about to run to the store to get some and take a pic of last years map, so I can show you guys and gals the area to look in. I also found an inflatable yellow octopus to inflate with helium, so we can use it as a guiding beacon monster that we can see from afar.  I'll take a pic of it, too.  I'll be back in a little while.

Haha I remember that thing!! It was by our camp, 2 years ago. This one is very similar, but it's the best one that I could find. My camera batteries have to charge, because I just bought a new charger and forgot to get any regular AA. So, I'll have the pics ready, in a little while. If not tonight, then definitely in the morning.

Where do you think I can either a)Buy a small tank of helium, or b)Get this thing filled at? I'm going to call around and see about it, because the damn thing is like 7ft tallIt will float, though, and it will be a helluva beacon!

Wouldn't it be something of a transportation problem getting it filled anywhere outside the campground? I guess you could drag it floating behind your car, that would be funny!

Okay, the area circled in green is/was the camp only spots, last year. You see the closeness to Centeroo and also notice that East Broadway runs right along those spots.

This is Centeroo. Notice the green camping only spots at the top.

This is the floating apparatus that will be floating above Camp Shroomery.

I am looking into buying a small tank of helium, or I am gonna call around the Manchester area to see if someone like Winn-Dixie, or Publix will fill it for me and how much it will cost. If I have to inflate it before we go in, I am strapping it to the roof of the RV.

Your best bet for Helium will probably be a party store or such. I know of a few companies that sell misc. gases but generally they are corprate accounts. as if you didnt already know that.

i picked up walkie talkies today...

mine are new motorola's, they apparently have a feature that allows for communication only w/ other motorola's... plus, all the sub-channels.. those of us w/ motorola's should be able to find a channel and sub-channel combination that isn't being over-used and communicate fairly easily.

we still don't have an RV yet, though! .. and i don't have a tent.. but, i'll spend my RV money on one and have a lot of extra cash, 'cause i'll have to take the bus if the RV somehow falls through...

Blissed, check with a party store or your local K-Mart or the like. They usually sell small party set things that has a propane-tank sized helium tank. Might be tricky to get it in to Roo if they see it, cause they'll think it's nitrous. Also I'm not sure if that small of a tank would fill up that huge octopus. Either way, just a suggestion I'd though I'd throw out there. I was going to get one last year and have a balloon over our campsite but ended up forgetting about it!

A week and 2 days until we depart for ROOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Well I got some horrible news yersterday. My ride/best friend can no longer go. She went to the doctor 2 days ago and they found somthing that looked like pre-cancerous cells. So she has to have immediate surgery. I am super bummed. We were looking foward to this since Janurary, now a week before we leave this happens. SUPER BUMMED.

However, I will still be there. Just ordered a plane ticket from MT to DC. My best friend from High School is taking her ticket and driving.

Now instead of sharing a tent with 2 chicks, Ill be bunking up with another dude. Oh well, maybe well find 2 new chicks (shhhhhh).

Thanks for the suggestion, DNKYD and zippoz, don't worry about getting a vbig tank. I think I can pull it off, down here. I will have a couple of big assed balloons, too. So, if the people at the entrance have concerns, I'll just fill one and show them that it's not nitrous.

Yos-I thought you already had your RV? It's gonna suck at 9am when that heat wakes your tired ass up!

Rockytop, sorry to hear about your friend, but I'm glad you're still gonna make it.

This is shaping up nicely, huh?
