Invitro pinning-help!
    #571569 -

Hey Y'all

today i witnessed a very strange thing. i have a few jars of BRF (after this i'm done w/ BRF) almost done colonizing, but are not done yet. It was inoculated with PF classic, and is attempting to pin inside the jar! To make matters worse, the pins look as though they are trying to grow from what is the bottom of the cake, as I flipped the jars to finish them up. What should I do? I was hoping to use the jar to inoculate some straw, but now I don't know what I should do, especially if the cake is not competely colonized... :frown:

Well, since they are going to fruit anyways, you should take them out of the jar, cut off the uncolonized sections...(depending on how much uncolonized there is, id be careful). And then just put them in the chamber.

Another mehtod is just to keep them in the jars until they are colonized and hten fruit them....they will be fine no matter what, just a little flat

You should incubate in darkness.

oh yah, that too

well ive heard that they can stil pin w/o light, but some other factor must be initiating them to start fruiting...maybe a drop in temp or hihg levels of O2

Take the lids off and set the jars in the terrarium right side up. Keep the verm layer moist.
