READ THIS: Invitro pinning
    #597177 -

Is waiting for invitro pinning an effective way to prepare cases, or is casing as soon as the jars are 100% colonized better? Should I wait for the two I want to case to pin inside the jar a little?

Also, I was wondering about what you have to do to invtro pin early. Should I just let them sit for an extra 5 days, or should I give them alot of light while in the jars and then birth them?

Thank you, some input would be appreciated.

I case mine at 100% colonized plus a few days.

If you want Invitro pinning inside your jars you would introduce light to the jars.

If you want to case then dont initiate pinning. When you crumble to case then you are going to pick any pins before caseing. leave them be for about a week after colonization(not absolutly necassary though) to let the network get a bit stronger.

You could always double end case the cakes too. I do this to ALL of my cakes.

does double end casing make a good differnece? I have not heard much about it, but from what I understand You just put vermiculate on either side of the rice cakes. But would that not inhibit the growth of the pins?

THanks everyone for your info.

light is not a major factor when its comes to pinning.
its mainly evaporation.
i have light in all stages.
in my col room , its so i can see.
