I have about 7 trays of zoodoo spawned with rye grain that was colonized with pan trop mycellium. It has been over a month now and I still only see a small amount of growth from the grain into the dung. It looks like it was growing for a while, and now it has stalled. The mycellium looks very whispy, and I do not see any infection, but it seems to be taking quite some time to colonize. Incubation is at 83 degrees. Somebody help me figure out how to get the mycellium going again please, I really want to try out these mushies.
Any ideas as to why it is stalling, or why it is taking so long?
Sorry to cross post but I have a feeling I may never see an answer to my question in Mushroom Cultivation. That is if I get one here either, please help me out anyone, I have been anticipating the arrival of this beauty for quite some time.

no casing layer yet. I placed a casing layer on the bottom of the pans (50/50+) and then added the dung/colonized rye on top of that. I covered all of the pans in foil and incubated in a dark warm place. When removing foil, I see whispy stands of mycellium growing out of the rye, but not going much further. does not look contaminated, nor does it smell that way. Smells like nice organic manure.

i have not fruited that strain out yet,though i have some jars colonizing now of that strain....but it seems to me you would mix your colonized rye with your zoodoo thoughly......then case that once it colonizes to a block of mycelium......in stead of just encasing your rye with a top and bottem layer of zoodoo/ or compost.....................

3 possibilities occur to me.
1. the manure wasn't pasteurised properly
2. the manure is too wet
3. the manure has too much ammonia in it still. Did you steep it?

I thought I caught of ammonium smell once, so that could be a possibility.

could also be too dry, or have come from a field where some nasty chems were sprayed. Has the manure proven itself in other experiments?

How the !!@#$ did you get in touch with the people at Zoodoo? Everytime I call, I get an answering machine and they never return their emails. Ah well, I think it's for the best because now I'm getting Dimitri's compost which couldn't be more perfect for Pans from what I hear.

I got it a while back and I just stored it for a while. I ordered from them online, and got my order within a week. I will have to look into that compost because I would really like to try out this strain.

Yeah I was checking out his sight he other day and I think I will be ordering a little bit of his compost as soon as I get the money. Do the pans grow well on stricly compost? Or should I try to get some manure as well to mix with it? Kinda hard to get manure around these parts right now.

His compost is a mixture of manure and straw...that's why it's so good for Pans.
