Too many Primordia on 10% uncolonized PF? Help!

All righty - Here is my predicament: In a ? pint widemouth jar, I have an almost 100% colonized PF cake. The only remaining uncolonized area is a 20-30% area of the "bottom circle" of the jar. Primordiae are coming up everywhere, and now I am counting 27 pinheads, some new, some quite thick and wormlike. So I'm thinkin... I want these Primordiae to grow upwards, so what should I do? I don't want to birth yet because of the uncolonized area, but don't want unnecessary damage done to the fruitbodies by keeping them in darkness for much longer?! Until hearing back, I am going to put the jar in my fruiting chamber with the light on above, and just hope? but I wonder, will this halt mycelial growth? Any way I can "brand" the uncolonized area with a cigarette lighter? I read something about that in MMGG adaptations, but do not have an alcohol flame? Help! Sorry no pics, but I am snowed in and without batteries!

You could just cut the uncolonized areas off

I agree with pleezr. You should thoroughly cauterize the uncolonized area. That will keep contams from colonizing the area. Good luck

you could also say fuck it and let the mushrooms grow invitro...they dont come out very pretty but end up drying the same...I had accidently left a jar out for a few weeks without knowing it..it was like 80 percent colonized and had pins coming from everywhere....I loosened the lid a little to let some co2 out and flipped the cake so that the mangled mushies would have room to grow..less chance of contams IMO and you will still get a decent flush out of the cake

That uncolonized area at the bottom may be too wet to ever colonize. How long has it been? I would birth and just let the uncolonized area 'fall off'. Whatever is left will be a natural casing.
