Nutrients required for cakes

Ok....I've read about 100,000,000 lines of text from many experienced shroom-enthusiasts. The thing I can't figure out is what nutrients do mushrooms thrive off? What is it in the different substrates that help grow healthy mushrooms...I didn't really understand why someone hasn't tried to but the straight powder form of different vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to substrates to help improve growth. I know that Tryptophan is what builds psilocin in shroomies. I heard something before about phosphate helping fruiting size (I think). If anyone knows what different nutrients do to help, please let me (and anyone else viewing this post) know what is good and bad!

Good point.
I've heard of using 25% freshly brewed coffee in the water when making a batch.
Similar to your topic, I've also wondered, since they need oxygen, what if an oxygen tank supplied 100% oxygen during colonization, and heck why not during fruiting?
What kind of gases are needed (if any) besides oxygen??

I'm aware of what growth medium is good and what isn't...since I'm new, I'm still using BRF until I get use to that and can speed up colonization . It's an indoor and I'm not having fresh poop all around my closet, even though it's the top medium. I mean would adding say...a calcium or protein supplement help build a strong foundation to fight contamination better...

Actually, you don't know that. Nobody does. There were some inconclusive experiments done years ago, that have never to my knowledge been duplicated, but the stories keep circulating as though they were fact.
If it were as easy to increase potency as changing the food, don't you think we'd have developed a pill that would make us twice as strong, or twice as smart? Give your fruits a good substrate and you'll get what you're looking for. Personally, I believe genetics determines potency, provided the fungus has a good diet. Much like us humans. You may have the genetics to be an NFL player, but if you grow up on nothing but popcorn and ice cream, you won't make it. There is no magic bullet, sorry. RR

Understood completely...That makes sense, but, I just wanted to have larger healthier looking fruits for apperance...potency isn't a problem with me, I don't want he-man potency...If their grown in the right conditions, they will be great! Thanks Roger...like usual your knowledge clears the path!
