It would probably be a good idea to find out the most efficient (i.e. easiest for the fungus to utilise) source/ composition of the nutrient solution.
Does anybody have any books etc... that mention nutrient requirements specific for these species?

if you do that, try it in a glovebox.

haha, i like the hydroponics for fungi thing!
I think possibly syringing would maybe work better. If put onto perlite, i imagine the liquid would evaporate up throught the perlite leaving a nice nutrient rich residue on the perlite that the fungus couldn't get to?
Syringing would probably be easier to control contaminants as syringe + solution could be sterilised.
