Nutritional requirements?
    #1021986 - 11/04/02 08:21 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

I was wondering if there are basic nutrient requirements for shrooms that explain why rye, bird seed, or brown rice flour are used to begin with, and so would allow one to make decisions as to whether other foods might be used in their place if you wanted to experiment.

I don't think there is enough information. I asked this questions a few days ago, and there's not research about this type of mushroom. By looking at the nutrition information on rice and rye it just seems to be high in carbohydrates, low in sugar, no sodium, and not a significant amount of vitamins or minerals.

well, it said tryptophan helps potentcy. I was searching around and only found L-tryptophan, if I use the powder and add it to the water, would it help the potentcy?

Thanks....i guess carbs are pretty significant. I guess experimenting with different nutritional bases will provide the best insights.

I believe SixTango is running some experiments on the significance of nitrogen content in the substrate, and he's had some quite interesting results.

Do you know what sort of interesting results has he encountered by experimenting with nitrogen content?

I can't remember anything specific, just that I believe he had some monster fruits. As far as I know, though, the results are still inconclusive. He's a very nice guy, PM him and he'll surely answer your questions

L-trypthophan is the form of the amino acid which rotates light to the left in a polarimeter. This precursor is used in the enzymatic conversion to psilocin/psylocybine.

If something is labled Tryptophan, it might just be a combination of L-Tryptophan and D-Tryptophan. (levorotary vs. dextrorotary - see previous post ^)

So would it make it more potent if I added it to the cake? Because that's the only kind I can find, L-tryptophan.

L-tryptophan would be the preferred form. Try it and report back to us.
