Effects on muscle tissue

I have a friend who is into bodybuilding and is interested in trying mushrooms. He is a little concerned on one aspect however.
Does anyone know of the effects that mushrooms have on muscle tissue, i.e. are they catabolic (damaging to muscle tissue).
Any info or links about this would be greatly helpful

I am almost positive that shrooms do not cause any type of damage to your muscles.

If I remember my biology (wow, long time ago) muscle damage is caused by free radicals which are released when the cells in the body breaks down food products into usable substances. Foods that break down cleanly release fewer free radicals which the bodies antioxidants take care of. Food that do not break down cleanly result in more free radicals than the body can clean in a given time period. These excess molecules float around ripping up anything they can get their electrons on. Under the microscope you can actually see holes in the muscle tissue as a result of this action. For most of us, these holes are no big deal, but for a body builder, the holes become a genensis for muscles tears when under load.

I don't know the answer to your question, but be careful trusting peoples guesses. Any MDs around here that know for sure?
