Stamets Breaks It Down !!VIDEO!!

I thought some of you with broadband might like to see this.
Its a 13 minut interview with Paul Stamets where he touches on alot of profound ideas and theories and also speaks to the corect pronunciation of the word
"Psilocybe".

What a crackpot.
C'mon, its a CHEMICAL interacting with our NEURAL ARCHITECTURE... there is no universal "fix the earth" message that psilocybin codes for, because psilocybin is too simple of a molecule to code for ANYTHING. Then we have to hear about spores travelling from outer space... UV light kills the spores instantly (But DUDE, they could be INSIDE a meteor that was a projectile of a huge mycelial network on some distant planet far far away... HA!)
He either shrooms too much, or he was nuts from the start. He did write a good cultivation book though.

The interviewer said "genetical"- that pretty much sums up that whole video.

Gotta agree with you. How comes it that someone who can produce two books like 'The Mushroom Cultivator' and 'Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms' can be such a space-shot? Perhaps he is a "Micro-Maniac," or what-ever-it-is he said.

Everything that happens to us is the result of a chemical reaction. It doesn't matter if that chemical was aquired from inside or outside of our bodys to make it happen. See if this makes sense:

Psilocybin is almost identical to serotin, which is one of the main neuro transmitters (or something like that) in our brain.
It is probably responseble for our perception of reality. And you know how complex our perception already is...

Divine_Madness- Serotonin does not CODE for ANYTHING either. It merely relays the message. The receptor sensitivities, thresholds of the individual neurons, connection strengths, and so on and so forth are what do the coding.
Which brings up my next point:

Well, this statement cannot be proven entirely. If you think of the brain as a deterministic system, such as a symbol system, there are numerous practical problems that arise that still have no good solution. If we're all just a chemical reaction, there is no free will. That is unacceptable to me...
But hey, if you're happy thinking that you're an organic robot, then by all means......
