Michigan season?

When does the season start up for Michigan? I'm in western Michigan and I'd like to successfully find some mushrooms this year. I tried last year but I failed terribly.

Look for Panaeolus Subbalteatus now. The info is on the net and on this site.

If I were in Michigan, I would be looking for Psilocybe caerulipes. Look at Shroomydan's great post on blue foots or inski's post about potential Psilocybe caerulipes in NZ. Near the end of one of those threads, MJ posted a document from a Scientific journal. In that document you will see that a vast majority of the finds of this species were from Michigan.

Then again it might not be the safest mushroom to hunt for a novice as shroomydan pointed out with his side by side comparison of the Psilocybe vs. Galerina.

In any event this was just to let you know that you may not be limited to Panaeolus subbalteatus if all you seek if pyschoactive fungi.
