I find this situation interesting. I cant wait to see what the final outcome is. I find the debating of the ID to be very professional, however this topic does have a sort of "turf war" aire about it. In any case kuddos to Shroomy Dad and MJ on the plethora of outstanding data on both species.

Very nice

Phishhead, they couldn't possibly be Subbs, because I found them here in the PNW, but that is just support for my point that one species can have several macroscopic appearances. They are all P. cyanescens found in Seattle and surrounding sub-cities.

Psilocybe subaeruginosa? I think you must be confused. That species is very similar to cyanescens, but has not been claimed to grow in PNW bro. The NSW thread is New South Whales.

Regarding my posting of the paper on P. ovoideocystidiata, One of the authors asked me to remove the printed locations of the mushrooms he deposited at several herbariums.

Here is my reply concerning such text.

I should i like to inform everyone reading this text that one of the authors wrote to me t and asked me to remove the locations provided in the article as to where he found his collections. While I normally do not do this, I can only say if you want to know where those collections came form then you would have to purchase a reprint of the article from Begell house Publishers for the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms. I will also say that I do not believe that hundreds of people would flock to his listed locations because they are in areas which spread for miles and miles.

Today I visited some of my patches and found fruits at only one of four checked. Last year this patch fruited a few weeks before the others; I don't know why. I was happy to see them.

There was a galerina or three in the mix.

I put this morel in the bag with a few bluefoot specimens I collected for herbarium deposit. Note the bluing on the stem.

If the blue from the cut stem of a psilocybe can bleed over unto a morel, then perhaps it could bleed onto a galerina if one inadvertently makes its way into a bag.

Be careful folks.

Wonderful pics as always Dan, hopefully more are coming. Patch looks very healthy in those pictures, so this is an early fruiter patch huh? How far away is it from the other locations? Maybe it has to do with elevation.

It was such a nice day today I decided to check a couple of my bluefoot patches and found fruits at one of them. I ended up just grabbing enough for my upcoming camping trip**, and found some Yellow Morels also. I am wondering if these are P. caerulipes or P. ovoideocystidiata. These were found in close proximity to Clarksburg, WV. Will post some habitat pics later.....but enjoy these in the mean time.

Well, I went out the creek in an attempt to find the first blue foots, I went to an area where people say to hunt, but for two years now I have found none at this spot. I thought I had found some , but the mushrooms i found were not B.f.s.

However the blue foots the grow in my front yard have been coming up for two weeks, small but about 150 have come up. Gradually they are getting bigger each new set that comes up, they are on AVG the size of a quarter. and i have now picked 150 or so caps.

It is supposed to poor for two days and then get sunny for a week so i am going to head way out the creek to my usual spots as soon as that happens! Wish me luck!

No difference in elevation, all the patches I checked were within ten miles of each other and less than a mile from the Ohio River.

I found this lone specimen today in a new location about forty miles north of the Ohio river in southern Ohio, about a three hour drive from my other patches. I think bluefoot is quite wide spread.

These Polyporus squamosus were nearby.
