STP strain questions (spare the flames)

Does the Spore Trading Post have unique strains or do they just mix up other known cubies and call them something else? I have only heard of their Z-strain and keeper's creeper. I just traded for a keeper's creeper and was wondering what the equivalent of other cubies were. It looks like it has a nipple, has a light brown cap, and doesn't go umbonate. The average fruit looks to be 4-6". Can anyone help me out here. Spare flaming on STP for another day. Peace Flatal

I don't know TOO much about all the different strains of shrooms, but supposidly they're just taking all of the well known strains and calling them something else. Oh, and JACKING the price up so idiots like myself will fall for it when they first start this hobby. When it comes to STP......RUN DON'T WALK

Did you actually manage to grow something you got from STP, or are you just speculating from his edited pictures? There is no such thing as Z-Strain, or Keepers Creepers, and I doubt ANYONE will ever get something viable from them.

Thanks Ralphie, but I wasn't going to BUY from them. I am getting this in a trade and was wondering a little background. I am not familiar with the South Americans. They don't look similar. The pics at STP are pretty grainy. My search goes on. On the STP website they said that they "bred" their shroomies. I don't know what that means. Maybe putting a couple of types of mycelia on substrate. I didn't think that was possible to "breed" a new type. Thanks alot Flatal

Ok, some research done, I would like to think that Keeper's creepers is an EQ with a nipple. It looks even closer to a columbian with a little darker cap. The Z-strain looks like an Aussie with the rounder cap. I can't tell from the picture if it becomes umbonate or not. Any other opinions? This thread has been great. I hope other people can appreciate this as much as I have. Peace Flatal

Speaking of STP, has anyone had experience with the glovebox he sells?

I've seen one in action. It's just a rubbermaid tub with a hole cut in one of the short sides. A pc-fan (available from Radio Shack in the US, Maplin in the UK) is fitted onto the box so it covers the hole and a decent-quality filter disk is attached to the outside of the fan. You get 'sterile' air flow by spraying the filter disk with Lysol and turning on the fan. Two holes for the hands to go through are cut in one of the long sides, and simply covered with flaps of plastic made from flat baggies taped to the box at the top. No gloves are actually attached.A 'hinged' pespex lid proivdes visibility, and is made from two pieces of perspex joined together with very stron clear adhesive tape of some kind. I'm pretty sure the design is ripped off from a tek found on this site somewhere. I'm told by my friend that it actually works pretty well, but you can make one yourself in a few hours - probably less if you're good at that kind of stuff. You certainly should not buy anything from that site on principle. apart from his many other crimes, the guy offers with his kits the PF-tek (complete with some modifications ripped off from the guides on this site) as if it was his own invention, which is in straight contravention of the shareware principles according to which the PF tek is distributed.
