Dehydrator too hot?

Hey guys.
Since my yields have been getting bigger I bought myself a dehydrator to be able to dry large amounts quickly.
Its a pretty cheap one though and I'm afraid it runs too hot. I've used it one time to dry shrooms and 3 grams dry resulted in no more than a very mild trip (about like 1 gram should have been).
I don't know how hot it runs and it doesn't have a possebility to chaneg the temp (it only has one setting) but it takes about 6 hours to dry the shrooms... does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do to make it less distructive to the potency?

whenever there are discussions on heat the forum always closes with the fact that the chemicals that make you trip DO NOT break down until 400 deg.. so what is the point in disconnecting the heating element.

But I can't imagine what else could have caused the exremly weak potency. And besides I think the temp could easily have been closer to 200 than 150. They dried in 6 hours, most ppl here say it takes 12 hours to dry in a dehydrator so I'm assuming this means that mine runs that much hotter...

If it wasn't the dehydrator that effected potency then why are the shrooms so weak I wonder?

160 -180 F imo doesnt effect potency

what was your substrate?

in the past i have gotten bad batches of horse poo that just seemed weak by comparison of other grows.

nah it was BRF. My potency has always varied from sort of ok to quite strong. These are by far the weakest shrooms I've harvested up to now...
Perhaps because it was the first flush... hmm strange.

nah it was BRF. My potency has always varied from sort of ok to quite strong. These are by far the weakest shrooms I've harvested up to now...
Perhaps because it was the first flush (they tend to be weaker right?)... hmm strange.

honestly i'm not sure if that's true. they say overincubating your grains makes them stronger but no creditable published documents have been written on the subject to my knowledge.
