I don't know about the puke part, I don't think most cops will clean it up and take it in for analysis. Whatever you do, don't admit anything and don't submit to any drug tests. You cannot be compelled to be a witness against yourself. If you feel pressured and want to admit something, say you took a lot of cough medicine (or some other otc drug). They might think you're stupid, but that's not a crime.

"say you took a lot of cough medicine (or some other otc drug). They might think you're stupid, but that's not a crime. " Well, a cop may not do anything, but it could be criminal. Ever notice the fine print on some OTC medication these days? "Unlawful to use this product in a manner inconsistant with the enclosed directions" or whatever. IANAL. For best advice, consult one.

That's a point that may be quite valid in particular jurisdictions. I threw those comments in because in my experience when I lived in California and was reading the penal code (quite a few years ago) it wasn't against the law. However a person could be charged with a DUI if operating a vehicle even while consuming legal substances. The best thing to do is not admit anything and exercise your rights against self incrimination - DO NOT SUBMIT TO ANY CHEMICAL TESTS.

They can probably get you for pulic intoxication or disturbing the peace if they want to. Around here they can detain you for 48 hours with no charges at all if they feel like it.

Ted: "Uh yeah, and I got you this paper bag to stop you from looking like James Brown in the Morning." Darlene: "Oh come now, I don't look anything like James Brown." Ted: "Hey kids, who does your mom look like in the morning?" Kids... in unison: "James Brown!" Darlene, "All right, thats enough... It's poison spaghetti for dinner tonight."
