Tripping: what's your motivation?

Just wondering: What's YOUR reason for sometime soon embarking on yet another Trip? And while you're at it: How many have you had already?
I think it's interesting to know..
Besides good ole fun my major reason for tripping again (I've had about 70 in some 9 years) is that my tripping not only has GREATLY improved the quality of my life, it has provided me with lots & lots of insights that got me thinking, and I feel my Spiritual Life has really deepened itself.
Oh yeah: I've been to Hellraiser-Country & back again a few times, but of all those Sessions NONE has set me back in my personal development.
So what's your motivation to periodically decide to go nuts?
I'm really curious...

Wish I could say that I tripped for spiritual/personal development....but I can't :-)
I trip because I like insanity. I love to watch the world fall apart around me while I laugh like a madman. I love feeling like nothing makes sense. I love feeling confused (sometimes).
It's all about being crazy. I love feeling crazy.

I have no idea how many times i've tripped. A lot, I guess, but not as much as a lot of the other people on this board.

Tripping feels like an adventure..
It's a journey to somewhere humans haven't fully grasped yet, or aren't even close to grasping..
I think that would turn anyone on with an adventurous curiosity..
theres just something about it..
Also i think tripping brings us back a step closer to nature, and the way things should be
it greatly strengthens our spirituality in this bleak world that is becoming more depressing with each day... we learn to enjoy the happiness inside our souls
it's just like any Good vs. Evil movie, everytime we trip we're fighting to free our minds from any sort of oppression.. we're discovering ourselves and the world around us in our own natural way, without any suit telling us how it is..
im 18 and have only been tripping for a little over a year, and it has helped me grow so much
i've tripped on LSD and Shrooms 12 times
every trip is meaningful to me so i usually record it and evaluate what how i grew from it
and i think in most people, tripping just makes us feel like children again( or better yet, reminds us that we are all just children of the universe or whatever) sort of like when you were little and got to go to a circus or something.. everything just becomes full of wonder and awe again..
tripping just kicks ass

Tripping gives me tons of insight. I appreciate things that I never learned to appreciate before. And it also has made me more open minded.
I also enjoy the idea of going insane and then trying to sort all those thoughts out and see what they actually meant even if its nonsense, and in my opinion in return you feel like a much strong minded person well in my case.

I trip for exploration. I want to find out just what all is in my mind and what it's capable of. Also, I can identify with trendal. All my life, I've been drawn toward the strange. I love the feeling that this is a new perspective, one that most people will never experience. I like to throw my brain a curve, just to see how I react. It's like taking apart a machine too see how it works.

Everyone Thanx for sharing! And several familliar faces too... Hi guys!
Grav: Great you went at lenght with your reply! I really think you're on the right track. Two days later: got more centered yet? Have Faith.
I can really relate to all your motivations & see a cluster beginning to emerge. But one thing two of you said REALLY made me STINKIN' JEALOUS!!
To like Insanity.....
How did you learn it or were you guys always like that?
I've had some moments of fearing to lose control & get devoured by Insanity.
That's SO difficult to overcome...
Something weird I have: sometimes, when in peril & suffering greatly I get really Masochistic and really LOVE to suffer like that. Not that I think I'm shit or something along those lines, but this one part of me is engaged in (earthly) suffering & the other side (my "Remote Observer") is like totally FREEE & soaring. It's like "Wiccan Seeker" is suffering but I MYSELF, the part that it's all about, is beyond being affected by suffering & the totality of this feels disturbingly fantastic. It's almost as if my SOUL manifests itself more prominently over my mere mind.
Sorry if that bit disturbed you, but does any of your guys has something similar too?

Sometimes things forget where you came from, sometimes you need a reminder of just how small your perception is...Man made time and psychedelics split everything your cognizant live days.....I look at the subjects that contain the sharply puzzled clarity and ask what is it I need answered, within a short man made time or a long chemically induced period the answer forms swelling into a hypothesis you must remember ......a well thought out conclusion my mind made, a story told followed by great depth and inticate webs of continued floowing until the outcome is visible............A single simple answer..........

Numba9: Are you a Trekkie by any chance? I really like the series, they got a little "soapy" but it's one of the few TV thingies that can get you thinking...
Egolesss: Sheer poetry man! I could've said it, but likely not as good... I've had some real petite sessions on just 1gr Cubensis (~6mg PSB) in a dark room, in bed & eyes closed and found that though no "Miracles" happened, the thoughtprocesses & Insights were really interesting & AT LEAST AS GOOD as those usually had on like 1/8 or about 20mg PSB. (both grown on compost, but regrettably not by me. Anyone reading this & not to macho on dose ought to try it. It's like you're calm & centered and your thoughts flow, you'll be reasonably euphoric generally and some visuals can even be had. If one takes this under different conditions, it's often a dissapointment. In meditative set & setting however, though mild of strenght, great insights can be had that won't wash away by sheer intensity.
You may not call it a trip, but it sure beats Grass!
Thanx for sharing!

Wiccan: Centered? Oh yes..
i totally understand why i had a bad trip now, i was trying to overcome this sense of selfishness and ill-communication that i've always had.. pretty much i've always still been halfway locked in my own little dark room for 18 years.. but im finally out and i know it...
it's really hard to tell when you've really found it.. i thought i had found it the first time i did acid, nope.
to everyone out there questioning themselves everyday about how they act and why they feel so shitty all the time.. dont worry, when the time comes you'll just KNOW, and you wont have to ask anymore..
our brains know everything, they know just how we work, our subconcious.. we just need to get to know it better and we'll all be fine.. humans must awaken, it's only a matter of time..
god damn.. our poor children being brought up in the 'school(government) system'... god damn...

self exploration, worldly exploration, the drive to find or see or realize something new... One of the most beautiful things i've come to realize when i've tripped is that each one of us is so small and insignificant in the growing scale of community, planet, galaxy, universe, but also unique and beautiful... yada yada. every blade of grass is just as precious and yet wonderful as every glowing star. EVERY time before i trip, i need to prepare myself, going on a trip without goals, activities, reasons is a WASTE of time, money, mushrooms, your mind. plus i enjoy thinking about the things while tripping that would've never crossed my mind sober. i love the metaphysical

BLASTRID: Thanx for sharing... Gee: if I read all replies it's almost this one big CLUSTER !!! Real good for my research!
GRAV: Great you're thrown clear of that one! A personal belief: I'm 90% sure the healthy human brain holds ALL KNOWLEDGE that an be had, like the equasion for a fractal that's this Universe. How else can one explain the paranormal stuff that happens in lots of serious Trips? I also think artificial intelligence may once reach the GODLEVEL: containing ALL information acessibly
Hope it's ancestor hasn't terminated humanity first, though...

I think tripping on shrooms can be a healthy thing, or I think it can do damage. It all depends on how you conduct your session, your mindset, setting and all that stuff that a responsible shroomer looks after before they trip. If I neglect to prepare myself beforehand, or if I shroom in a less than appropriate situation, I usually regret it later while I'm tripping. Mind you , what someone considers a "bad trip" can actually be appreciated by someone else, becuz it may force them to deal with issues , which can in turn be very healthy. But of course, eating 5 grams and going to a rowdy party with the cops soon to arrive wil hardly provide a good trip.
I like shrooms becuz it is an active experience( whereas smoking weed is more of a passive thing) and it makes you think. Mind you, having your mind race for hours can get kinda crazy, but that's what makes you feel like you've been on a journey. When I come down, it always feels like I am returning back to reality after a long trip, full of thoughts, feelings, and just plain weird experiences, within my head, and all around me. Shrooms are definately food for thought.

tripping usually returns me to my true values and morals... honestly if i dont trip every once and a while i lose sight of whats really important and start to become more of a sheep... not very much but certain values slip away if i dont trip occaisionally... i dont recomend being a shroomhead or a cid head... but to each his own some people handle drugs better than others... ive tripped in the 80 range... hehe somewhere between there and 100

Ive tripped somewhere around 30 - 40 times
i love it because it gives me insight on things that i truley dont think i would have ever thought of sober. i definitely need to trip every once in a while or i also lose sight of my true morals and beliefs. it has made me appreciate so much in life, things that most people take for granted.
I LOVE TRIPPING!!!

As with LSD_4Me, i trip very frequently. Idose low at least once a week. It keeps me true. i have a slight problem with lying and it helps greatly and it reminds me of my goals and priorities. When i do dose high it can be for several reasons. Usually to experience the truth of nature. Im not a religious person and not that spiritual, but i believe the earth is a sentient being. It is in rough definition an organism and has almost all the characteristics of a living being. When im tripping i notice this and it helps me remember that i am a part of that organism. Any other time i dose high, its to fucking go nuts and live in the fantasy world i always dream about.
Advice: watch 'The slayers' while tripping. Its anime. Youll have an epic adventure. ^^

To all of you: ITS REALLY GREAT !!!
When I posted this I expected about half of the replies were going to be things like:
"It gets me as wasted as inhaling oven cleaner but lacks its hangover..."
But all of you guys responding seem very serious, which is Great!!!
Seems the title I gave this thread is a very good "monkey repellant"...
HOMAGE ETD: What's "Low" to you & how long are you doing this? It would be WAY too frequent for me & most...
I'll try to get hold of "The Slayers" but won't view it during a Session, since watching an episode of StarTrek in my early years resulted in the Trip going sour on me. I'm opposed to distractions during any Trip, as are my comrades in Shrooms.
Thanx to all & please keep 'em coming!!!
